Only just got home! The sewing course today was all timed wrong, and it took 3 hours longer than I had expected.
The next one will have to be a weekend one. One day just didn't work. I am shattered now!

Blimey. They must have got their money's worth.
No wonder that you are shattered.

I hope you charged for the time it took, Mooloo! If they paid for two hours, two hours is what they get - period. Even if it means not finishing a project. That's what every single private teacher does, give or take a few minutes. You certainly don't go on for an extra hour (or two!) without pay.

    You simply cannot afford that.

I didn't charge extra. But I have learnt a lot.
I will now do a "method " like my cookery lessons as a child.
We had to work out a time for each procedure and slot it all together.
Then I will set a timer for me to remind me where we are supposed to be in the list.
If then it looks like we will be going more than 30 minutes over, I will advise them etc that they are not going to finish unless they make a move on!
I did decide to stay longer with it because I was trying to fathom out what exactly I should be pitching it at next time

Feeling drained. Wasted my morning on gadgets!
So much for making myself more productive and proactive etc.

I know tomorrow is another day.
I still have time to turn today around.
Guess a cup of tea and a kick up the proverbial might help.
I know that I should have been making more of my time, but I still side track

  • I agree you shouldn't have charged for the excess time this time. If I had paid for a workshop to make 'x' in that time, I would expect the teacher to know this was possible and to leave with a completed 'x'. So yes, this was a learning curve Mooloo and I am sure you will get it right next time.
Also, outside of work, are you timetabling plenty of 'doing nothing' and 'playing with gadgets time'. You need to factor is chilling time to be realistic and not feel you are failing.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • I agree with Brightonbelle about time for yourself - as you know I am a very busy person and never have time to do everything I want to but for the last 6 months or so I have been making time for myself and what doesn't get done is just tough.

Each night after work I come in and walk the dogs, wash up and then sit down with a coffee and the newspaper. If DH and DD are not back by the time I am finished I will have a quick look at Facebook/Instagram. If they are back then we have a chat about their days before we all go off and do our own things - it would be then that I would check Facebook etc or have a read on here or do some committee work.

I actually feel, for the first time in years that I get time to myself and I am really pleased about that as I have always put others before myself all of the time. But now I know that number 1 needs to be looked after and I must take priority.

Also at weekends I try and schedule in some down time, I have so much I could be doing that I could fill every weekend for months but it's important to just sit back sometimes.
I know you have the shop and you are very busy (and want to bring things home) but everyone needs time to sit back and relax.

I have done the same lesson before, but I find it very difficult to hurry someone up.
Everyone is different of course, and skills all vary. I think this time the person should have probably done a night course so she could catch up in her own time each week ready for the next week.
I couldn't charge extra, it would go against the grain etc.
I will try and write out a time plan for future lessons so I can chivvy them along .
    Fingers crossed.

Things are rather busy at work so this morning I need to show up in a positive and productive mood.
I haven't been to the BFs as I was too tired on Saturday and we hardly communicated anything yesterday.
I sort of enjoyed not dashing around, and after I had my bath etc I did do some work and listen to some constructive lessons on a course I am doing on line.
I also did my Portuguese lessons on the kindle.
I did the PAYE and would have done the accounts but one of my friends suggested we went to the pub for dinner with the kids. So we did that. When I got back I watched Endeavour on the box before coming to bed, and I fell asleep listening to a hypnosis tape.
I was only up once in the night around 4am, that's good for me.

I am hoping that I can turn around a positive day today and that I can get lots of momentum to get through the mountain of work I have to do.
I hope that I will get some interest in the seamstress job soon. If we are this busy in February it's going to be extremely busy in The next few months. We are already booking in Weddings etc for October.
I am slightly concerned about Dgd. While we were in the pub she saw the mum of one of the boys in her class, and she changed into an agitated and worried child. She didn't even need to see the boy before her whole mood etc changed, and when he arrived later she was very destrought.
I am going to have to talk to her about him again and then I will probably have to go back to the school.
My friend said had we heard from CAMs yet, and I must admit that she seemed to have adjusted to her mum etc and so I did not follow up as I thought she was settled. But she clearly is having issues. She was very clingy and kept asking for cuddles or a hug even after we were home.
I must pay special attention to her, and see exactly what she is doing and going through. She retreats to her bedroom on her games such a lot, I suppose that it just never occurred to me that she was getting problems at school etc well not since we had highlighted issues before.
I have had such a lot of things on my mind, I feel guilty that I hadn't realised that she was having issues.
