How odd.
An hour ago I tried to do a normal post and was told that the thread was closed, yet I now see another post.
Really getting confused about things now. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hopefully the distractions having been pulled, everything is back on track again Mooloo. Take care of yourself - remember the first rule of first aid - make sure that YOU are safe first before helping others xxxx0

I think the thread got closed for a while, while they got rid of the AE account and the juvenile bickering posts. Looks like they've opened it again now.0

I have spent the afternoon with the children. Dgd enjoyed playing hide and seek for a little while when she came home from school. She is missing her phone as her drink spilled on it this week and it's in the airing cupboard hopefully drying out. -and before anyone jumps on the phone band wagon, she muses is to FaceTime with her Mum and baby brother. She will have to use mine later.
Dgs4 has a bad bout of hand foot and mouth, and cannot eat or drink anything. So he has had to go back to the doctor today.
Biggest is still hanging on in there.
Work is busy, so I have brought a trolley full of repairs home to do after tea.
The new Seamstress is still rather slow.
I will be telling her tomorrow that she has to achieve £100 worth of work in a day then I have only one other option, she ends up on a piece work rate or will have to go.
One day I will find one. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Poor Dgds4 - I remember when no 3 manxminx had this, mum was advised to offer cold milk or water - no fruit juice ....and icecream!0

Moo putting the phone in rice or with silica sachets helps draw the moisture out.0

Do you do paid work trials with people? For a couple of weeks to see if they are any good or suit your needs. I get that you need people to be good at what they do but most jobs have a probationary period built into their contract from the off. It’s usually a few months long. A work trail, paid would let you see how someone works before you took them on permanently.
I’m not the biggest fan of zero hours work but you could consider employing a couple of people on zero hours contracts. Where you offer hours as you need them covered. Because I think it’s pretty much soul destroying to be offered a job and be let go a couple of weeks later.

She has been aware from the start that she needs to earn at least the £9 an hour, but I expect double that. My other Seamstress more than doubles her wage. Although she is now on £10.
Last two weeks the lady has earned £225 yet only sewn £100 worth
So loosing me money. She is aware she is too slow and that I have been giving her a chance to come up to speed. But there is no point in my paying her more than I pay myself and then my having to bring home £300 worth of work to be sewn at home in the evening. If I am sewing in the evening I want to be making and creating things not keeping up the alterations work load.
Sunday between 6.25 and 10pm I sewed £199 worth
Last night 6.15 -9.30 I sewed £102 worth. Would have been more but I didn't have shirting elastic for one or the right zip for another, but I did the unpicking for around another £100 worth of work when it's finished.
I don't sleep very well at the moment, not surprisingly with all that I am dealing with, but I still managed an hour of my online personal development training last night and had 45?minutes hypnosis this morning because I woke up at 5.30.
Dgd is not feeling well. DS is going to have to babysit. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I do admire anybody who can sew neatly, at speed. I certainly can't! Maybe you need someone who has had experience of sewing in a factory, or similar.0
