I bought Hotel Quality from Primark a few years back and was surprised by the excellent quality. I now see they have 400 thread count in Duvet cover Sets and tomorrow will go and investigate further, and hoping they may be just be in the sale. (love a bargain).
I also have a set from Debenham's - Egyptian Cotton - ultimate luxury - but may break the bank.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
I have Egyptian cotton sets from Sainsburys (they currently have my white set in the sale at around £40) it is very good quality. Wilko 'best' range of everything is incredibly good quality (towels are brilliant for example)
We spend a lot of time in bed so I think it should feel fabulous!0 -
The Asda sets are on offer in store at the moment.
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

Always use mattress and pillow protectors. These should be washed weekly alongside the bed linen. Ideally, bed linen should be washed at least once a week.
I also recommend using a top sheet as that will also help protect the duvet.
So, the order of a bed:
Mattress
Mattress protector
Base sheet
Top sheet
Duvet cover
Duvet
Pillow
Pillow protector
Pillow case
Using mattress and pillow protectors will keep the bed healthier by giving an extra layer of absorption for sweat and skin particles.
I always buy flat sheets as they can be used as either top or bottom sheets. Also much easier to iron than fitted sheets.
Work on the principle of 3: one on the bed, one in the wash, one ready for use. This is very useful if you are ill and need to change the bed several times in short order; or if drying is a problem; or if you need a quick change for guests.0 -
Three rule of threes is good and what I'm doing this time!
What is the benefit of a base and top sheet though? And does that mean fitted and flat sheet both?0 -
I bought Laura Ashley sets in the sale 12 years ago. I still have them now and they are still pure white. Worth every single penny0

The base sheet is often a fitted sheet. If you buy a duvet set it often includes a fitted base sheet. So a set often comprises: duvet cover, pillow case, bottom sheet ( often fitted).
I always buy duvet covers and sheets separately so that I can buy flat sheets. A flat sheet can be used either as a top sheet ( between you and the duvet), or as a base sheet ( between you and the mattress protector which is on top of the mattress.)0 -

I've never bought a duvet set that came with a base sheet.
Some sets come with 2 pillowcases, some with 4.
All our bedding - including the mattress protector, pillow protector, cover of the duvet itself i.e. the material holding the down and duvet cover & pillowcases - are 100% cotton.0 -
Just from a quick Google:

I wrote that a set often includes a base sheet, not always, and that those base sheets in a set are usually fitted, not flat.
I have sets that are only duvet cover and pillowcases as I prefer to buy flat sheets separately.0 -

A lot of people upsize their duvets.
e.g. king size for a double bed, superking for king sized bed.
So if you buy a king size duvet for a double bed, you'd get a king size fitted sheet which wouldn't fit your double bed - it would wrinkle up as the elastic wouldn't hold it tight on the bed.
Looking at the link, the bedding looks cheap and nasty - MATERIAL: 100% Polyester Soft Micro Fiber.
Sweatfest in our house.
I wasn't disputing your comment about base sheets, just explaining that not in my experience.
Maybe it's just the cheaper manufacturers who include a base sheet.
I've only ever bought good quality 100% cotton and as already said, never had a base sheet included.
Nor would I want one included.0
