No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries January 2018

  • Hello lovely ladies! :A

I used to be an enthusiastic member of this group and have really missed being here. I've been reading along quietly as a way to get back into the challenge. I still have far too many products but am determined to work through them. I think that I'm going to go on a no buy but maybe review it every two weeks (baby steps!) I'd *love* to do an entire year...

It's going to take me a while to do my inventory. At the moment I'm sorting through all of my makeup in order to build a simple daily routine that works for me. I want to hide everything else away and maybe rotate through different palettes each month?

My main issue is toiletry buying rather than makeup, so I will be back with a PP list later. I just wanted to jump back in and say hello whilst I was feeling brave and determined!

I hope that everyone is as well as possible ☺️ I'm really looking forward to being part of this lovely community again!

I remember you Willowbee. It's good to *see* you again. With eyeshadow I've decided to do a roulette type of project so I choose one eyeshadow to pan and keep that palette in rotation (I don't own many singles). I then rotate in a different palette each week so I don't get bored. I've found that I'm really loving a shadow once panned. Am working on the MAC shadow called Whenever You Call.

Welcome to the challenge. The thing to remember with bargains is they are never one time only deals. The same offers come around time and time again. The key thing is to wait until you actually need something and shop around as there are plenty of places to buy products from as they are not so exclusive any more. This was my problem. Was always influenced into buying because something was limited edition or a special deal.

Thanks VALM, you are so right, although I don't know why I've never thought of it this way before!

I think the only thing I will need to buy soon is primer for my skin (otherwise my concealer just slides right off) but I think everything else will be covered by my hoardes for a good while.

Hoping to get some time tonight to count up everything I have, and maybe treat myself to a bit of nail polish pampering as well :)

Hello Willowbee, great to see you on here again, I was thinking of you recently and wondering how you were getting along. Hoping that your health has improved since you were here last.

Whilst it is lovely to see old friends back again, it is great that new people are joining us, welcome.:D

I still have a long way to go to be where I want to be with regard to stocks of toiletries, I am making progress year on year and now know that the really good offer in store or on the internet will come along again before too long. Another really bad move by me used to be finding a product I loved and then stockpiling it, sometimes this was a good idea, but on the whole it has not worked as there have been so many new developments in skincare and a host of lovely new companies come to the market each year who seem so much more tempting to me than the huge corporations.

Baby steps are good and we will keep cheering each other along:D:D

Not too much to report on the UU front. I had a gorgeous Bourjois blusher arrive as an NBI, I usually wear these once a blue moon, then give them away.
Still working my way through the usual bits and pieces, gradually.

Just to add, hello Willowbee! I remember you too. Hope you are holding up on the health front.

Hello Willowbee. Good to see you back. I am on a no buy at the moment, I haven't bought anything this month and there are only a handful of things I will need to buy over the whole year. I love my products but am totally over the whole overbuying and listening to hype thing.

    I have a uu

Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum in Oil 30ml - WMBA, I really liked this, it smelt great and felt nice on the skin, although not quite moisturising enough on its own which is the case with most oils for me.

Another UU: Jo Malone Dark Ginger and Amber body oil. This was bought for me as a birthday gift by MRM a couple of years ago. I really think this brand is overhyped and would not seek to repurchase or let him purchase any more for me. I still have the fragrance to use up.

I went into one of the shops to try the Wood Sage & Sea Salt perfume (I think I got the name right), it was lovely and very unique but I think they are actually a cologne and it just didn't last so I didn't go back to get it as the prices are .

Another UU: Boots Extracts Coconut body scrub. This one smelt nice but still too runny and not scrubby. Pointless. I have now got rid of all these and will be opening my pot of Lush Cup o Coffee soon. Only one scrub - none stashed. Yay xx
