  • MrsSD , you are such a lovely person. Thanks for thinking of me. I have been decluttering the garden at the moment - up very early as it is so hot later on then sleeping in the afternoon then out again late evening. Well I got sick of being hot and exhausted and so and here comes the confessions , yes, two.
The first is that the sales are on here , just like the UK, and I have had two day trips out ( sounds like an escape plan) to large towns and I have been buying things- clothes and shoes- just the one pair only 20 euros and when I asked for the box I found that they had been 90.All leather, too. That's enough of sounding like I am on the wrong thread. The second is that a charity shop had a big sale and I bought clutter. Yes, I'm ashamed but the items are all very pretty and or needed , including a pack of brand new knickers in my size.Which means that I was able to declutter some on the way to being tatty ones . Now all my knickers are hospital quality. I will explain. My Granny used to say that underwear should be able to withstand being looked at if one was unfortunate to be taken to hospital in an emergency. And I have replaced tatty gardenwear- polyester 20yr old shorts replaced with pale grey linen, from my localCS, of course.

    306 shorts to rag recycling
    307 Tshirt to sameand

    308-312 knickers to same
    313bag of books to CS
    314 earrings to CS
315 pile of cards to recyc just after I read the last few days posts and MrsSD's good wishes. And welcome to the newcomers I am now fired up again and will stop sleeping in the afternoon and have time to declutter.
  • 1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY

    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)

 my token expired & I have just lost my post so am starting again :money:

I am with you Molillie :rotfl: my decluttering of anything worthwhile has ground to a complete halt  The CS van has still not been repaired - at least SEVEN weeks now so I still have the long single divan bed, mattress & headboard, single wardrobe, bedside cabinet, five large terracotta garden pots, five wooden garden chairs (for upcycling), two sturdy combination lock Carlton suitcases, an orthopaedic chair; a canvas shopping bag & two bags of children’s books cluttering up the place :( Apparently I will be the first pick up when the van is repaired but who knows when that will be :( I want to add these items to my list :rotfl:

Wednesday was a lot cooler in the morning (quite chilly at times which pleased my DSis no end :rotfl:) and very cloudy - but brightened up considerably in the afternoon. Today started warmer & cloudy but the sun has burned off the heavy cloud & it is now warming up nicely with blue sky & the very pretty wispy clouds :rotfl:

Yesterday DH started digging out the extra space for the new larger shed - he will be doing the base himself as the shed deal includes delivery & building :T He must have shed a few lbs as he was digging in hot sunshine
DSis & I went to the P.O. & then onto the cs with two bags of already counted items & :j:j the shop was open - my DSis was beginning to doubt it was ever open  We then spent the next hour & a half chatting to the cs lady - lots of laughter & kept her from getting bored as she only had one customer all day :( Then did an sm shop & got the bus home - completely empty roads as there was some football match on the tv :rotfl:

Today DSis has been to the Doctor - back tomorrow for a blood test + 2 forms to fill in for appointments for the cardiology & respiratory depts. at the hospital. DSis was shocked  that she has to pay for each item on her prescription - to her mind one piece of paper = one charge. She walked back by the dock & past the cs which was closed
I have basically done sweet Fanny Adams today & DH is away for a couple of days on his motorbike doing the Round Britain Rally - as a reward for all his hard work & putting up with my DSis & me :rotfl:

In keeping with my two mantras over the last two days - 2 x aired & made bed; washed up, dried up & put away as I went along; dinner last night was help yourself to what was in the fridge & tonight has yet to be decided & only for two; filled birds water bowls; washed down kitchen work surfaces; watered my very few flowers; watered my sm living salad; sugar bowl refilled; general tidying; moved some of the paintings/pictures under our bed to top of wardrobe - decision pending on sale or donate.

B1499 - B1504 One nr plastic bag, two nr plastic packaging, two nr plastic trays, nr plastic pot - ALL Binned
B1505 - B1508 Three lots of Cardboard packaging, magazine - Recycled
    B1509 - B1512 Three plastic milk cartons & a glass bottle - rinsed & recycled

retiredinfrance, I have just seen your post - :j welcome back :T You have been busy & very sensible :rotfl: If having a siesta keeps you decluttering then I would continue as it seems to work :T:T & no confessions needed as you appear to have adopted the ‘one in, one out’ method of decluttering & I won’t ‘hear’ another word on the matter:silenced::whistle: sticks fingers in ears :rotfl:

You have reinvigorated me :T as my decluttering mojo has been on holiday for a few days :rotfl:

Now just need basketcase to post - I hope you are OK basketcase?

    So, onwards & outwards

Hi all, I've been busy so far today and depressingly most has come from an area I've already cleared!

    Here goes
    991-902 a tagine and lid
903 some coloured tissue paper which has seen better days
    904-909 some glass pots.
910-921 probably more than 12 bags
    922 some rags
    923 shredded some paperwork
    924-925 boxes recycled
    926-932 bottle bags
933 a cardboard broken bottle carrier
    934 some string
    935 an extension lead.
936 some brown paper which had seen better days.
    937-940 cards with no envelopes.

    That's all for now..

Villagelife I have just redone a previously decluttered room but think this time I was more ruthless with what was going out the door. To be honest though I think it looks a bit empty in there now though :(. Think I liked the look of it when it was cluttered cos it looked all cosy then :(

  • Well done, Edwink. Don't forget, a decluttered room is a calm room, a soothing room, a place where all is well. Not much here ,chez moi,as out and about.
    316 & 317 two samples used up.

318 pile of books to CS. Actuall these are part of a slightly bigger pile of about 15 given to me this afternoon by a friend who has had to return to UK. Mrs SD, you know the situation. I have been very strong, and although loads of stuff was offered and there were bargains galore I have resisted them all. Well, apart from the books.

    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)

retiredinfrance, I know exactly what you mean, but books are a law unto themselves & it is Very
Rude not to accept when they are offered :rotfl: You never know, you might find a new to you author who can keep you company in the depths of winter :rotfl:

Friday, DSis went for her blood test & came back looking like a pin cushion  The young nurse ignored my DSis’s comments & just kept jabbing  She then spent the rest of the day watching TV & ‘resting her eyes’ :rotfl: Saturday DSis was feeling under the weather so she again did nothing much except one load of washing & drying + one lot of washing up :T

DH got back 8 p.m. Friday - had a good time on his rallying even if it was only two days :rotfl: He had good weather & stayed in a very nice pub b&b and had a full English breakfast. DH ordered Chinese which was dinner for the three of us for Friday & Saturday night & DSis still has barbecue ribs for a Sunday snack :T
Saturday, after DH had watched his Moto GP qualifying races, I set him to work in the garden. We emptied the garden box and shed. Moved some of the contents of both to the garage, moved some from shed to garden box & binned quite a bit of ‘stuff’, DH also jet washed the birds water bowls & the wooden garden chairs & tightened bolts (will be oiled prior to collection by cs) + he put up the new parasol - it is a work of art & DSis is ecstatic that she can now sit in the shade :rotfl:

    In keeping with my two mantras - Friday - aired & made bed; washed up, dried up & put away as I went along; filled birds water bowls; washed down kitchen work surfaces; deadheaded & watered my very few flowers; watered my sm living salad; sugar bowl & teabags jar refilled; emptied indoor bins; made apple & blackberry crumble; used ripened fruit to make a large fruit salad as breakfasts for DH & I (with yoghurt); composted half the peelings with the other half into wormery; swept & mopped kitchen floor; general tidying;
Saturday - aired & made bed; washed up, dried up & put away as I went along; filled birds water bowls; washed down kitchen work surfaces; deadheaded & watered my very few flowers; watered my sm living salad; sugar bowl refilled; emptied indoor bins; wrote & addressed all birthday cards for July & August (posting date written where stamps will be stuck :rotfl:)

The indoor decluttering is stalled until CS collects all the furniture etc, but the outdoor & day to day decluttering has generated:-

    B1513 - B1535 Non recyclable - 4 pots, 8 plastic bags, 10 plastic packaging, bubble wrap - All binned
B1536 - B1547 Three tin cans, glass jar, 4 plastic bottles, tin foil tray, 2 plastic milk cartons, glass bottle - All rinsed & recycled
B1548 - B1560 Paper packaging x 2, four lots of cardboard packaging, foil packaging, toilet roll inner, magazine, two large cardboard boxes dismantled, plastic punnet x 2 - All recycled

The garden shed was quite productive -

B1560 - B1580 Broken - bucket, hanging basket, 3 bird feeders, 3 plant pots, 2 screwdrivers; large plastic tray with unknown substance, melted  pair of garden gloves, half a dozen bits of metal, disintegrating rope, length of too thick strimmer wire, half a bag of general detritus
(which should have been binned Not put back in shed/garden box :o) - All binned OR to be taken to Tip/Recycling Centre

    Plus

B1581 - B1582 Indoor Allotment still in box - house with white picket fence :rotfl: & a brand new watering can rose which didn’t fit our watering can  - CS

    So, onwards & outwards

Although overall total seems small, the number of actual pieces of paper which have left my home must be at least 2000 by now.

26/52 - so after a few weekends of being host and feeling like I'd taken 2 steps backwards I decided I shouldn't give up! I've nearly got my washing back under control but I've officially started back with getting rid of a number of balloons. I don't even like balloons.

Well done oceanspirit. I know what you mean. I feel the same about all the stuff that has been leaving but even if one small item goes, then I feel it is a plus.

I often take two steps back Rootle. Especially lately as I have been so busy doing other things. Now back on the wagon as only got a few plans for evenings out and weekends away in the next two months.

Mrs Salad Dodger, I think I am going to follow you very practical mantra. Easy in this house, lol,:rotfl: I will report in with how I get on.

Just had a week away and got lots of rest. Came back I cleared my shed before the hols, took a trip to the tip and had a huge bonfire. Al the ash is going to be redistibuted onto the allotment and the compost heap. DH bagged it up for me yesterday.

The shed being clear means I have been able to start moving the boxes of fabric and other stuff from the midden that is the front bedroom. Four have already gone but DS no 2 has just moved a load of his stuff in which needs sorting.

While on holiday I had time to think about the other things that I need to do. Today I have revisited all my finances, yesterday I made a plan for the allotment and the house to be cleared. It is helpful for me to do this every now and again or chaos remains the norm. Each time I get more stuff out, I feel better and it is easier to keep my head above water.
