I would like to join and will aim for 2018.
I have already started..
1. Pair of jeans thrown away. DH's and a CS wouldn't want them.
2-3 magazines in the recycling.
4 pair of headphones sold to DS2 friend.0 -
I would like to join in for 2018 too please
After getting divorced and my daughter and her husband-to-be moving into their first home together I find myself living alone in a 3 bedroom house but with boxes and boxes and boxes of 'stuff' clyttering up both 'spare' bedrooms and garage as well as my own bedroom.
Ex-H and daughter only took the things they wanted and left everything else for me to sort out!
Actually, some stuff of daughter's is here because it's stuff she wants to keep but has no room for in their little rental home and there is still stuff of ex-h's here because it has taken him a while to get settled but which I have told him I want gone by the end of Jan (which will be 3 years since he left, so I don't think that's unreasonable).
If I can get it down to just the smallest bedroom and half the garage I will be happy.

I’m going to join you too. We’re putting the Xmas decks away today and I’ve thrown out 7 decks that we’re looking a bored tired, so off to a good start.
The problem I have is children’s books. I’m training to be a teacher and when my kids get rid of a book I keep it so I can have it in my class library next year. So I suppose they will go eventually. I also have a box of stuff to sell, might start listing that tonight.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660 -
I will also be joining in. I have been decluttering for years and at last making an impact. Big areas are books ( my safety net in times of crisis), craft stash and paper. I have tons of notebooks but also have piles of paper to write on for lists. In a addition I look after the finances of 4 people including myself. I will be clearing by the bag or box full avoiding landfill.
On a positive note I am good with clothes. I set up a disposal station in DD room last year (she is at uni). I have a box for Christmas Child, a bag rags for the CS and a bag for normal CS giving. I have been doing well with taking each bag to the CS as it is filled setting up the next one at the same time.
One thing that helped last year was pre wrapping the Christmas Child boxes and storing them in the back of a wardrobe. I am too busy in October to do it. I had the boxes made up and ready in a very short space of time with no stress or guilt.
Final thing. I have a box under my bed for unused gifts with slight package damage. This year I have enough to make gift sets up, including baskets and gift boxes saved to give away. A task for February when I am on holiday.
I hope to change my user name one day to 'gotridofthelot' . Lol.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Morning All and Happy New Year.
I am still in my pyjamas on my third cuppa. Nothing yet achieved. I'm setting my kitchen timer for 30 minutes at noon, going to see what I dash around collecting up and putting away in its correct home or ousting. I've had enough caffeine now to manage it.

I would like to join in with this. Not sure I can do 2018 items but will have a good try. I am starting slowly with at least one item a day. Hopefully this will increase. I also need to stop buying so much stuff. There are only two of us, myself and partner, but my adult son moved out a few months ago leaving most of his stuff behind so I have that to wade through as well as my own clutter.
You should tell your adult son to sort his own stuff out. I had a similar issue and he has dealt with most of it and has said he will help me with the rest of the house.
I found it hard in some ways - although I know he isn't going to move back it makes it more real somehow - but I'm struggling to get my own house in order (literally) and don't think I should have to deal with his possessions.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
1) postcard from Alzheimer's Society thanking me for my help at an event last year - in recycling bin.
Got to start somewhere!
Was hoping to go to Marks today and put some clothing in the Shwop bin but they're closed.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
I did 60 minutes of dashing. Looks less cluttered now. Dry laundry on clothes horse folded and away. Bathroom and kitchen bin emptied. Pots gathered and DW on. Bathroom tidied, I seem to be the only one in this house capable of putting lids back on toiletries. Beds all made. Back lounge sofa restored to neatness. Games played last night put away. Bird feeders filled. Shoes and coats away in cupboard rather than adorning the hall. Christmas selection box packaging in recycling. DS and DD's new calendars up and old ones in recycling. So, some bits permanently ousted and everything looks better. I have a load of washing, but my late Grandma's superstition prevents me from putting that through today

THERE ARE NO RULES :j:j:D
Great, thank you!
I don't think I'll count things that get thrown out as part of day to day life, but anything that I'm throwing away as part of a declutter of an area will be counted!
I've made a start by selling 2 items on Facebook today!0 -

I did 5 loads of washing today and as I was putting the dry washing away I remembered that superstition. Oh well!:rotfl:0
