    Good luck with that.

It will be fine - we've been 4 times before :T
  • We also went last year and having been before we had forgotten just how expensive park tickets are. I can't remember the exact figure but for 4 of us for a 1 day 2 park Universal ticket it was in the region of $800:eek:

Bizarrely, I've sometimes found that it can be cheaper to get an annual pass for Universal even if you're only going to be there a couple of weeks.

We don’t holiday abroad, simple. :) last couple of years we’ve gone to Cornwall for a week in the summer and rented a self catering holiday cottage. Husband and I actually find holidaying in this country simpler and more enjoyable than going abroad, although obviously it’s not for everyone. I think it cost us just under £1k last summer excluding spending money, but we didn’t spend much. Our son is 2 but we are limited to school holidays as husband is a teacher but if you can go outside these it would cost less. No way we could afford £4K for a summer holiday. We are the exception in our circle, I don’t know many families with young kids that can afford holidays at all.

£1k for a week's rent in Cornwall strikes me as incredibly expensive compared to what you might pay in many Continental countries - was it absolutely amazing?

It does seem expensive, but its pretty standard - I have seen much higher costs for 'unusual' accommodation in pretty standard 'bucket and spade' type locations, no where as nice as cornwall
The opposite of what you know...is also true

Don’t worry, my sister is the same. She has lifetime NT membership and enjoys it to the full.

It's not really worth it for us to have membership now, since there are very few NT properties nearby. I have visited a lot of them in the past though, since I had a fab job with NT for a while :)

I agree, we love the UK (apart from the weather!) but property rental is much higher here. In the past, we have rented all over the world, and many of them were amazing houses for much less than you would rent a bog standard sea view cottage here in places like Padstow for example.

I am just looking for July in France and even in the hotspots; Old Town Antibes, Lourmarin, Canal Du Midi villages and Nice, property rental is very reasonable.

I know renting in the UK's expensive which is why I'm always puzzled when people can afford to holiday here but not abroad.

Because you dont have to rent a property to have a holiday in the UK. You can holiday in the UK for as little as £10 a night and travel as near or as far as you want from home
