This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning all,
Tossed and turned all night... Just before Grump and I went to sleep last night I told him I wanted to sort out our diet next year. I think we eat pretty healthily but could improve and save a few pennies as well. Grump reminded me it was 7 years since his last stroke and his strokes tend to follow a 7 year pattern.
Life is difficult with him at the best of times....heaven forbid! Still, no good worrying about something that might not happen eh? Its just that my mind was running riot!
Food shopping today. I could possibly stretch it till tomorrow, we will see.
Decided to take the Christmas cards down today. I will leave the tree up a little longer because I love it so much but the rest can go.
FBO are there any updates on your cousin? Dumpling how is Becky? Holly I hope your continuing to improve.
Onwards and forwards

Morning JUDI and all to follow. I was another with a tossing and turning night. I woke with a start about 2.30 with a feeling of panic. Maybe I had been dreaming I don't remember. Then couldn't get back to sleep, not helped by this ever present cough setting off every time I moved. I wish I could shake this bug off I just feel so weary and washed out all the time. Needless to say the cleaning yesterday never happened. I gave the bathroom a clean and that was my lot.
No shopping needs to be done for a while yet as illness seems to have played havoc with our appetites and the freezers are still well stocked.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all those in need. So many on here just now with health and family problems. Let's hope the new year brings a better start for us all. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning judi and those who will be here later.
I slept poorly too but no real reason, habit .I suppose.
I'm going to keep sone twinkly lights going until Monday but my decorations were a bit on the meagre side this year.
I've nothing special to do on this dampish day. Just a baby jumper to finish and some knitting to pack up for posting. So I might have a bath rather than a shower, and mess about in pointless manner.
Special thoughts to FBO and to Dumpling, also to the poorlies.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off Judi.
I decided not to go out for a walk yesterday in the end. It was raining heavily most of the day and I didn’t think it would be good idea given the weather. So I had another day reading and watching TV.
Today I am going to my brother’s house for New Year, and my niece is coming to stay here with her boyfriend. They have some friends who live in London who often invite them down for weekends. As both my niece and her boyfriend live with their respective parents they are not able to host, so I suggested that as I won’t be here they could use my house and have their friends to stay here. They are very sensible and will respect my home.
As I’m not sure if I will be able to get online tomorrow I will wish you all a Happy and Peaceful 2018 now. Thank you for being a wonderful bunch of supportive people. Everyone has had challenging and difficult times throughout the year but has always been there for other posters.
Get well wishes to all of you who are unwell, and I hope that things improve for those who have difficulties/problems and worries. Take care.0 -
Morning everyone
Judi - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, but wet and mild - loads of laying water.
DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas, egg and bacon sarnie for him and porridge for me. Boys still in their pits.
Dinner last night was HM egg and veg fried rice with chicken, was delicious no LO's. Today I'm not sure but do need to do some food shopping for New Years Day, mum and dad are coming over, it'll just be a buffet with some hot food too, nothing to difficult.
Yesterday we went to see our friends who we haven't seen for a while, they are much older than us but we've always got on really well with them, they have loads going on within their family at the moment and our friend hurt his back quite badly and is now having to wear a back brace, they can't operate, he can't drive at the mo so we made sure they had enough bread and milk etc and he was wittering about his car as it's not been used has a flat battery, so DH put it on charge for him whilst we had a cuppa and a chat then they managed to get it started and they went out to give it a run and called in at local garage to check the tyre pressure etc, then when we were leaving we gave her a lift to the hairdressers so she only had to walk back, was lovely to see them, but there's other things going on within their family, which they have no control over.
So on to today -
I'll be heading to the SM first thing, for a large top up shop - this will be food for New Years Day, and food for going back to work next week, the fridge is quite empty and I haven't thrown very much away so am pleased with that.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
I don't usually get on here this early. An amazing gust of wind woke us at 6am. OH went back to sleep but I didn't. Meh. So I'm down here wrapped in a blanket. Too early for a cuppa even. And the wind is howling.
Don't know what's planned for today so will pop back later.

Morning Everyone,
Thinking of everyone who is poorly or who has worries.
Managed to venture out to Boundary Mill yesterday and then onto Dobbies, did not buy much.
Today as I did most of the cooking over Christmas, myself and the OH are going out for a meal at a local pub. Then afterwards some food shopping is needed.
I actually stayed up to watch a film last night. So I managed to sleep through the night ok.

Good morning folks.
I’ve not looked out yet though I’m hoping the snow will have melted in the rain. There’s a storm due st some point today so I’m definitely going home. According to all the reports on FB the road is clear now.
First I have to zoom into town to collect my phone case, then do some shopping for DM.
Sorry to read that so many sleep badly a / or are still poorly and hope that things improve for everyone.
Must awa’ Happy Saturday to all.0 -
Good morning all.
The promised snow materialised yesterday, started about 10am and continued all morning.
I went out in the early afternoon, just down to our little town. It was good to get out - I haven't been out "properly" since last Saturday, and was starting to feel a bit stir crazy. I was only out for an hour or so.
Last night I got together withe friends, as is usual for a Friday evening. Inevitably, a lot of our conversation centred round our friend who died just before Christmas, she has left a large hole in our lives.
The snow is now melting and it's much warmer, forecast to get up to 8 degrees, whoo hoo, positively tropical. My eldest son in Australia tells me it was 38 degrees where he lives, bit of a difference eh !!
We are going to go over to the caravan today just to check that it's ok.
I hope that everyone who has been poorly soon starts to feel better - sometimes you feel that you'll never be well again. Nobody seems to have slept well last night - I did, but only because I had such a rubbish night on Thursday.
Take care everyone.0 -
Morning all.
It's been a long time since I joined in with this thread
I woke up at 2.30 and couldn't get back to sleep afterwards. I really hate that, just lying there wishing you could sleep.
I have a few chores to do this morning, which I have been putting off but they won't get done if I don't get a move on.
On to OS. I would love a more OS lifestyle and always have good intentions - try to avoid the latest must have for the home that will make your life just perfect, but I do get sucked in. Now that I'm self employed though, it's even more important to rein everything in.
