Hi could you put me down for January please0
-
Janus goal - where do you want to be in 12 months from now?
To have the house finished up to the kitchen door (beyond the kitchen door is a fearful land of danger and peril). And I would like to go on a (foreign) holiday with the kids which does not involve staying with family members.
Activity. I have a gym membership I have got out of the habit of using as I got caught up with quotes and tradesmen and double glazing and plastering, so when the kids go back to school, I will hit the gym or swim every day before going home or shopping. Aim for 5 a week, hope for 7. It will stop me spending. I will be too knackered.
Non-negotiables:
-18 NSDs (I will do or not do.)
-Grocery budget £250 - 6 people, 4 lunchboxes a school day.
I usually average about £10 per head per week
-£5 to foodbank / charity - will set this up today
-No debts to pay money to, but saving for 2 school residential trips and overpayment for the mortgage - I tried paying the overpayment at the start of the month, then the kids surprised me with 5 school trip letters and swimming lessons and I went over budget. So now I sweep whatever is left at the end of the month. I pay myself last.
Unabashed, unambiguous, unconditional, undaunted, undivided, unerring, unshakeable devotion to your goal(s). -Start as you mean to go on, fall off the horse, get back on
Reduce, re-use, repair, re-gift, recycle, recover, refuse! And read. - Bought myself books from c/s for Xmas. I have a lovely pile waiting for me. Good cheap entertainment - none were more than 75p, most were considerably less. [
You are the key to reducing your debt, living modestly, keeping as fit and well as you can. So look after yourself - physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
I have 3 stone to lose. I ate it, I have to get rid of it.

Ok - time to post for this month's challenge:
Janus Review:
In 12 months : Be financially stable again – up to 30 hours/week, remained debt free, and be on track again with all my savings for a mortgage, car repayments and Emergency Fund.
In 5 years : To be in my own home, have paid off my car, and be in sound place financially. I’d also add that I want to be in a good headspace mentally and physically fit and in shape.
10 years : To have made inroads into my mortgage, have remained debt free, and have topped up my pension adequately so that I can look to retire at least at 60 rather than at 67. As above re. good well-being.
Activity:
I had a few hobbies I let slide - Astrology, my Counselling studies, Reading, Dungeons & Dragons... they all seem to have stopped... when? I'm not sure. I seem to just play games on my PC as a way to switch off now. Not sure where my creativity went.
(I) Resurrect my creative spark through meditation, self-reflection, and exploration - try for a little every day.
(II) Stay active. My gym attendance was appalling since I moved - and I'm signed up and went once last month. So - aim for 2/week + 1 walk in nature (just need to find somewhere now where I live that's pleasant!).
Non-Negotiables:
- Keep my £5.00 donation to World Wildlife Fund
- Aim for 18 NSDs and plot on calendar Spend Days
- Budgets set - Food/Spends £100 this month. Tight one! I had a load of T*sco Vouchers so bought £50 + worth of food for like £12.00 so am well stocked up!
- Will set to work on meal planner tomorrow
Personal spending goals:
1) Always ask myself do I WANT or NEED it first
2) Use up the contents of my freezer/cupboards before doing a re-stock - even if this means eating strange combinations at various times of the day haha (I have no ricecakes in this time thank goodness!!!)
3) Empty loose change (leaving only £1 & 50ps in my wallet) into my money jar. Deposit in when full - this can be a kind of treat fund for me.
Good luck everyone & Happy New Year

NST April: Food/Spends = £240.00/£60.00 NSD = 7 /12

Activity. - Going to carrying on with the crochet. learnt it early 2017 and did a few projects. Got some plans for more so will do that to keep me entertained and away from internet shopping temptations! DH wants to start painting again.
Non-negotiables:
-18 NSDs (if not, why not?) Going to try super hard with this one, managed 10 in Dec. New job for DH and a later payday means we need more money in reserves.
-budgets:
£200 groceries
£80 petrol
£50 other.
-£5 to foodbank / charity - will do.
-pay money to your debts FIRST = payday on 20th/26th, will do this then.
-meal plan, have started, will continue with this each week.
Unabashed, unambiguous, unconditional, undaunted, undivided, unerring, unshakeable devotion to your goal(s). [more on this later]
Always plan your meals;; avoid all coffee shops, vending machines, work canteens...Have managed this for the last week, set to continue.
Reduce, re-use, repair, re-gift, recycle, recover, refuse! And read. Have new books, will read!
Not familiar with Bob or his stretching but will be trying to make my money go further. No OT for me, doesn't matter how many extra hours I do, just salary. Sold anything worth anything in the last 6 months now and will probably do another car boot at some point but likely not until the summer.
Happy new year everyone. :beer:Money Saving since 2016 and determined to be debt free by 2020.0 -

Can I join please?
I've been lurking for the last couple of months and ready to really try with the NSDs now! We don't have any debt as such but we moved house earlier this year and have a massive mortgage and house that needs lots of renovation. A new bathroom is next on the list....
Our budget for the month is £250 for food, household and toiletries (it's me OH and our young daughter). £60 a month on petrol and £50 a month for treats/entertainment. We have £50 a month each for treat money too. I try and take a packed lunch to work most days but occasionally have to buy something when I meet my friend for lunch in the staff cafe. I also meet a friend for pub grub once a month but these expenses come out of my fun money.
We have a christening to attend this month so will need a present for that but hopefully have outfits we can wear already.
I have no hobbies as such but lookibg into joining a local walking group this month.0 -

I seem to have paid off my mortgage this morning!
Not really though, they are having tech problems:rotfl:
I have taken down the tree and repacked it all into a suitcase. The box was mostly gaffer tape held together with hope. At least it will be easy to stow in the back of a cupboard now. And it has handles! :T
Will have another cup of coffee and try and find my mortgage before DH gets up. After that is hoovering all the (fake) pine needles that fell off my tree.
How can a fake tree moult????4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Happy New Year!!!
What ever your aims, I hope you achieve them.
Thank you for your positive vibes Apple, Greent. It was a shock to discover the extra card, but with a SOA sorted and a monthly budget/mindset/plan in place - foward only.
Up since six, thanks to DD2 yelling "ITS MORNING". The whole sleep in idea is still an alien notion to her, so everything's a little blurry thanks to the previous night spent stressing. I've labeled everything in the house with relevant syn counts and re-embraced Slimming World syn counting this morning, mostly to shake off the excess of Christmas, but also a good habit to track in vs out. DD1 is all over it two. It also helps me plan and cuts food bills MASSIVELY because cooking from scratch.
Right now I'm feeling motivated and confident.
Today is to be the first PLANNED NSD :j pausing for a cuppa before starting to take down Xmas decs. Will be dragging the kids out for a walk too. Tree might stay up till tomorrow, we'll see.Debt Free April 2019:j to July 2019NEW WTC:eek:1,194

Want to have saved £3000. Given that we are on a fixed retirement income it’s a big ask but I can but try.
Need (yes really need) to loose three stone.
Be free of clutter - physically and emotionally. Life is too short.
Have you heard of Swedish Death Cleaning to help with your de-cluttering? It is very interesting.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
