Weird week . Saw mr trainer on Monday . All good .
The pains in my legs are not as bad over the last couple of days .
Could I be turning a corner ? Met up with my friend yesterday lunchtime in Bournemouth . Just something spontaneous .
I had my 6 monthly checkup with the dentist and hygienist . Some parts of the gums have gingivitis. No big deal and that will be gone soon . The teeth are okay , except ...for a wisdom tooth!
It means I had to pay for X-rays . I'm on a dental plan where I get 20% off , but £57 was leaving me a little down in the mouth .
I always expect to pay when going to the dentist in spite of looking after everything the best I can . Anyway , I had this strange x Ray which I had to stand and this machine was moving around at different times and talking me through . Not good for taller people . The dentis is going to confer with the main dentist that removes wisdom teeth.
They will decide if it needs removing and whether they do it or the hospital . Hopefully nothing needs doing . I've had wisdom teeth removed in the past . We'll see.
One good thing I guess is that the last time I saw the dentist , I was on prednisolone and it's good that that's gone now .
I just received a pack from 'my aware ' regarding my mg. I should really have joined my aware sooner. I receive a passport / diary / membership card .
The diary and passport allow me to input how I'm getting on with my condition on a daily basis . I do regret not doing this sooner . I can list my medication and time of day I'm at my worst etc . I'm only one of 10-12,000 in the uk with this . It's good info for universal credit when they want to investigate .
The neighbours have quietened down a lot . I'm just hoping they keep it that way. The man of the family who is only visiting there , waved at me a few moments ago in his car and actually recognised me . I haven't seen any of the family since my complaint .
I have some stuff to do in the flat today , and may even be brave and paint the hallway tomorrow . I'm not Picasso , but when I moved in I had limited time and my health was a lot worse , so I could freshen up parts of the flat as I feel as and when .0 -
Sorry to hear your teeth are costing you.
We were round your way yesterday. We went to Boscombe (there's a retro games shop that hubby likes to visit in the shopping centre) and then we went on to Homesense in Branksome.
Had a nice surprise when I got up this morning and went out on the terrace. The SS Shieldhall, an old steam ship, was anchored in the bay, right near our flat.
There was also some strange goings on last night, with a couple of military planes flying over. One of them had no lights on, and they seemed to be circling, as they went over us several times, coming in across the sea. Don't know what that was all about, or why one was flying without lights, didn't think planes were allowed to do that.0 -
You've got my sympathy AC. I cracked a back tooth while I was away and have just had it removed as the only viable option. Quite a struggle as the thing had been there nearly 60 years and didn't want to move. Lol.
That painful episode cost me £62 on the NHS.0 -

True what you say about shops in general . I was in Waitrose the othet day ( actually got a couple of bargains ) , and one of their staff more or less insisted I go to the peopleless and clinical self service.
Sunny day again. Will be for the next few days also . The sun is out for longer . Maybe the heatwave is on its way ...
Hi AC. Very envious of how close you live to the sea in this good weather. I am about as far inland as you can get. I occasionally look to see what I could afford to buy closer to the coast but as all my family are here it will stay a bit of a dream.
I try very hard not to use the automated tills and have actually told the staff who encourage it that I am trying to save their jobs (whether they want it or not). In my experience these tills are not quicker anyway as they often seem to break/not recognise an item, then you have to wait for someone to come and clear it. Mind you, some customers are so rude. I was in the little shop near me and the woman in front was on her phone. She sort of threw her items and bag onto the counter and didn't make eye contact with the staff member who packed her bag for her. She then waved her card at the machine and left, as the staff member was asking if she needed a receipt. She never said thank you or even looked at the person. I was tempted to say something to her as I followed her out (I seem to be getting to that age), but then she started screeching into her phone and using language that seemed to be very threatening to whomever she was speaking to so I decided discretion was the better part of valour. It does annoy me though as the staff in that shop (and most shops in my experience) are all very friendly and helpful.another_casualty wrote: »I had my 6 monthly checkup with the dentist and hygienist . Hmm, I wish I could say my dentist was friendly and helpful. All he seem to want to do is sell me various "treatments" - whitening/crowns etc. Yet when I had a problem with a tooth (it turned out to be a dead tooth and infected) he insisted he could see no problems and did not listen to me until I burst into tears in the chair. Even then I think it was because his nurse spoke to him as she could see how upset I was (and in pain!). I keep trying to find another practice but many don't take NHS patients. I have had all of my wisdom teeth out - which explains a lot in my family's view. One had to be done in hospital as it had very long, curved roots. I wasn't too bad except I attended a wedding the following day and couldn't eat any of the food at the reception because of the swelling (I had to have stitches as well). I sometimes think the answer is to have them all out and have dentures but then I think of an old aunt who used to only wear hers "for best", and could only eat soft foods (shudders).
Enjoy the good weather, and your improving health. Alfie-cat is still good.0 -
Thanks folks . Glad you're enjoying boscombe gigervamp . You've picked the right time
Showery weather on the way .
Sorry about your tooth also Harz . Things just happen , no matter how much we seem to be on top of things .
Glad Alfie is well DreamingSorry to hear about your experiences .
That narcissist I used to work with ,always used to make the same quips about people having wisdom teeth put in at the dentist .
I too , had to go to the hsp to get a cracked wisdom tooth removed.
I Remember being on the 17th floor of guys hospital . The students were beginning to panic . One in particular , went through this pack of tools ..including a small handsaw. He was wiping the sweat from his forehead . I to had stitches , and a swollen mouth that I was similar to marlon Brando . Oh, and the blood :rotfl:
All this , after the dentist who referred me was trying to have her way with me on a Monday morning . Probably still drunk from the weekend
This practice is good though , but this morning it was like coming off a ride in the funfair ..
I must say , I've been here roughly 2 and a half years and don't miss London at all . Peaks and troughs wherever you go .Im only in a starter type flat , but so far so good ..0 -
Legs not too bad today . Got an email from yodel .." your order from lucky winner is on its way .." complete with tracking and phone no.
Obviously a scam ..
I had to go into the dolphin centre in Poole , and do some food shoppping . Also to get the new Rammstein album on cd . My last music purchase for some time . I hardly buy new stuff these days ,but I couldn't wait for this . Anyway ,
They're playing big outdoor dates , over the next 2 years so I doubt if I will go , unless they play Southampton next year or so .
I'm not one for outdoor gigs anymore . We'll see.
I then got a text from a friend informing me that grumpy cat died
Still , the weekend's here ..0 -
AC - glad to hear all is ticking along.
If you do go to Waitrose from time to time it is worth applying for a My Waitrose card (free). You only have to buy a small something and that entitles you to a free hot drink from their machine (not the caf!) if you bring a disposable cup. I love a free treat
Going back to pensions, DH has now taken the plunge and retired (he is 63) so a few years from his pension age. He phoned the pension people - hang on in there as it took 20 mins before they answered - and has found out that his NI contributions are up to date, so he will get the full pension when the time comes without having to pay any more. So this was well worth a phone call.
Another really helpful call was to the tax office - the girl he spoke to was amazing and really helped him out regarding two pensions he has been drawing for a number of years, as he will now not have to pay tax on them. So an extra £55 per month has now been releasedShe obviously couldn't make a decision for him but gave very clear advice on another very small pension he has decided to take as a lump sum. Both the pension place and the tax office meant a long hold on the phone and both kept trying to divert us to the website - but in these instances I think it's much better to speak to an actual person.

Hello mrs p:) So nice to hear from you again .
Thanks for the Waitrose tip . I must admit , I didn't understand it.
I always think of running away when shops asks if you want to sign up to a store card etc . Trying not to get burned again financially .
It sounds more of a loyalty card though , so may be worth doing .
Great news about your husband retiring . :j :j Thanks again for the pension tip also , and tax .
Apparently , once the con / lib gvt got in , they cut the staff in the tax depts so people are lucky to get through at all these days .
Even the wages woman in my last place of employment had murders getting through .
Speaking of the gvt pension , I went online and answered all the security questions including giving passport no etc . It does seem that I am eligable for the full gvt pension which is measly anyway .
Up until I quit everything 2 and a half years ago , I was less than 6 months unemployed having left school in 1979 . All office jobs , all tax and n I paid including the temp jobs . I'll check again to make sure nothing has changed when I'm in the right frame of mind .
So , the last few days things seemed to be improving on the health side of things ..until last night . I was awake with pains all over my body all night and was very tired this morning. I didn't fancy seeing mr trainer , but I forced myself and glad I did . He was impressed , and he forever tells me I train harder than most of the normal gym people . I should sleep better tonight . Hopefully .
I took down the estate agent signs once again . It'll be a game for me now . As soon as the signs go up , they will get removed the next day
I don't think the neighbours were in yesterday . It was the quietest Sunday I've had here . I won't speak too soon though ..0 -
AC - the Waitrose card is a loyalty card, not a credit card and you apply online. As I say worth it if you fancy a free cuppa - I always love a cuppa when I go out, so now DH has given up money is on a tight budget! This way I can still have my cuppa and not have to pay for it.
You are doing so well with the trainer - keep going.
Hope you sleep better tonight.Debt free and Keeping on Track0
