Didn't sleep much last night . Had to make sure that I got up early as I have an amazon delivery today . I have 2 awkward sized bass guitars and need gig bags for them . One of those needs a repair , so it is essential that I have something to carry it in.
I may sell that bass though , so undecided . Just an electrical fault .
The guy in a repair shop in London's Denmark street thought he fixed it , but the fault seems to have come back . It eats batteries more than I eat chocolate .
Still no call from Reactive . I'll leave it till Monday , and if I've heard nothing then I will reply to the guys email ,who is supposedly arranging someone to see me . Not impressed .
Speaking of cold , there is a draught in my double glazing . I'll have to get some insulating tape for the windows .
The really cold spell is not due next week, according to the weather apps but I need things done .
I've noticed some birds/ wood pigeons eating the berries from the bushes outside my window . Nice to see.0 -
I love watching the birds outside the windows, especially the little wren, with it's tail that points straight up. For something so tiny, it's got a massive pair of lungs when it's singing, it's so loud!0

Yeah, great to watch gigervamp.
It was very rare that I saw any birds outside the windows here ,until recently . I have now been getting wood pigeons and black birds . Not at the same time though. I would often hear them , but not really see them . The wood pigeons always look around a lot . Hopefully they'll get used to it and my blinds don't put them off. I do wonder if they can see me through the glass ..0 -
You've not been sleeping so well recently? I always find it hard to sleep when I know I have to be up for any reason the next morning. I hope you get a better night tonight.
Always lovely to watch and listen to the birds. If you can see them, I'm sure they see you too.0 -
I guess it depends on how reflective the glass is. It probably varies according to the type of day. That's why birds sometimes fly into windows, because they think the sky is there, when it's just a reflection of the sky.
We're rural, so get all sorts here, wood pidgeons, ring collar doves, thrushes, blackbirds, various t i ts (had to space that out in case the forum software decided I was swearing!), robins, wrens, magpies, and jays, are the ones I can think of. When I used to put out peanuts, we also had a nut hatch. At night, there are owls. I was sitting outside late one night, and one swooped across the garden. It was absolutely silent. A truly magical experience. We mostly just hear them hooting though.0 -
Hi AC
I think I'm almost there with persuading DH to quite work, sell up, move house and live off equity!
Just wondering about the best way to do it. Thinking about your option where you sold, moved into rented accommodation and then bought. Wondering if that is the way to go for us. We would be moving from one end of the country to the other (from Cornwall to Northumberland). We have the added advantage of owning a motorhome. So we could sell, put our stuff into storage, live in the motorhome and take our time looking at properties. It's either that or go the traditional route of being caught up in a chain. I'm thinking the storage option although I'm a bit worried about the storage costs and stepping off the property ladder.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
If you lived in the motorhome for a while, you'd need an address for things like the bank, GP registration etc. And don't forget site fees, unless you'd be staying with someone you know.
But it's an idea that should be explored. There's a guy on YouTube called Andrew Ditton who has some really good videos about living in a caravan or motorhome. He lives in an Airstream, and uses his mum's house for the stuff that I mentioned above. It's worth checking his videos out. He's a lovely bloke, has a cute little dog called Dougal, and his videos are getting better and better. Even my husband likes watching them, and he has no interest in caravans or motorhomes!0 -
Thanks Gingervamp - I hadn't thought about needing an address. Would it be possible to use a PO Box - can you still get them? I'll check it out, but then again it's another expense. Yes, we would need to pay site fees.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Found this on the Royal Mail website:
5. A fixed address for those who move frequently or are in temporary accommodation.
A huge number of the population move home at least once a year and with that comes the possibility of losing important post, or worse it falling into the wrong hands. Increasingly, renters are using PO Boxes so that regardless of where they move to they can maintain the same postal address.
I guess I need to ask Nationwide (who are my main bank) if they will accept it as a temporary address - or we would be stopping at one campsite so could use that perhaps? Not for the post but for the address.
It's starting to sound a bit complicated!Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -

I would be inclined to do the same as AC did, and rent for 6 months or a year. Living semi permanently in a motorhome has many problems, some of which have been touched on already. A few more are registration with doctors/dentists and the like, TV licence, bus pass (if either qualifies) and others.
The one thing your motorhome will give you though is a breathing space when your own home sale completes in case it takes time to find a suitable rental.
Also if you would consider a new build house when buying, rather than pre owned, that might smooth matters and avoid a chain in Northumberland - I don't recommend Persimmon as a builder though!
Good Luck.0
