Last day of the month. I haven't tallied up the final spends yet - DH was meant to buy coffee and sandwich items today - but we should be breaking even.

    Meanwhile, I've created a £50 February Challenge thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5786560

DH is just about on board with it. He'll grumble but that's mainly teasing.

I've tallied the scores on the doors for this month, and its turned out to be £42.18/[STRIKE]£30[/STRIKE]/£40. An amazing £14 went on junk food so the overspend was entirely avoidable, and all my own fault :o

The positive is that I have 10 NSDs this month.

I have a separate allowance for consumables (which I wiped out at costco), I mean who can resist 45 rolls of Andrex for £12 + change!

Clearly not me.... I also grabbed that while in costco the other week, lol. Upside is I am good for toilet roll for a few months now! :rotfl:

    I would have resisted, but

    a) I already have enough loo roll until probably October, and
    b) I'm a Cushelle person, so stock up on that when Costo have it in (only ever have it in when on offer!). Not so long since got 40 rolls for £10.18 ;)

No more spends since I checked in yesterday, but I want to try and figure out the replacement costs for everything I used from stock that was a full pack / tin / bottle etc., to see if I'd have still been under budget if I'd had to buy those too......

Batiste have a new range of fragrances I haven't heard of before in their dry shampoo range.
Rose Gold is my absolute favourite and it's suitable for vegans.
We checked OH into the hospital yesterday for testing regarding his breathing and they decided to keep him overnight for more testing.
Sending best wishes for your OH. xx

I've also been sneaky and have now separated out alcohol consumed at home from the grocery budget, this month I bought a lovely bottle of gin that was on offer (Sipsmith 70cl for £25!) for special G+Ts and then found that Bombay Sapphire was on offer for £18 for a litre, which we use for regular G+Ts, so thats bought down my grocery budget by £43, told you, sneaky. So that left the budget at £309.44 ;) which meant I was technically only over by £18.72.
I have a separate 'alcohol consumed at home' budget of £20. Any monies left over from this will be carried over to the next month. I have an unopened bottle of 'pink gin', sat on my kitchen counter - I'm on dry January - yay it ends tomorrow. Can't wait.

Me, I can. I buy So Soft. They are 3 ply, better than Andrex imho, and you can get 54 for £10, usually on offer, at Farmfoods. #Sorry #JustSayin

I have declared January, but I had some spends today of £11.95, so I have taken this out of my 'Bulk Fund', which is where my leftover January monies went. See you over on February peeps.

Well January was hard work! I'm going to have to get better at this. Unfortunately the family has been quite ill with flu this month but we have still managed to finish on £498.40/£500! Amazing really. This is what I need to manage every month. It sounds high but it was a lot of cooking. I cook mostly from scratch but tend to buy puddings, like biscuits and ice creams. This month I made more cakes!

See you all on the February thread. X
  • Went over by £30 this month. Total spend £305/275

    Evening all

    Two spends this week, Al*i = £16.31 and Morries = £2.07.

So declaring for the month at £181.16/200, which means £19.84 to add back into my Bulk Buy fund this month :j Also managed 19 GC NSDs :j

Well done all those coming in under or on budget :T Hopefully, if you just missed it this month you can, at least, spot where you might be able to tweak things a bit for the future ;)

    'See' you all in February

Wrapping up Jan with £107 left, I have used a lot of my stock and seriously need to get dog food and other stock bulk items so will push £100 into a bulk buy fund.
