That’ll explain why my debit card was refused just before Xmas. Worked fine in the shop so I was a little confused why it wouldn’t work at the pump. I’d never have known if it wasn’t for the OP so thanks. (I don’t always read the updated letters from bank but I will in future!)

I’ve got a basic Halifax account I’ve had for years and years, used occasionally but not my main account. They are aware I have a Student Additions account with Barclays and I did at one point have a full current account with Lloyd’s but Halifax don’t seem bothered and haven’t shut my account yet- suspect possibly due to the age of it.
