"Thanks for your replies, yes i was daft not to check the boot but it was dark"

Yep, 4 tyres would be hard to spot in the dark boot.
  • Even if you didn't want to or had time to check your boot, you could have asked something like "are the old tyres in the boot?" when you were paying and it would have jogged someones memory.

Also when they say disposed of they probably mean they have sold them as part worns to someone if only a few months old and still in good condition. Most garages I know have piles of old tyres stacked up out the back, they only dispose of them in one go when they have a lorry full worth.

It is actually a tyre fitting local company, not a garage that does other repairs etc. when i rang back they said they would ring me back, but said they would have been thrown out. They didn't
ring back after 2 days so i rang them. they said they had checked, tyres had been put in with the waste ones, they had been emptied and where they had been sent couldn't find them. He said all they can do is sell me 4 at cost at 22.50 each when i swap them back over. i asked would that be put on my account to say that, he said no just to say his name and it would be fine. this company has been around many many years and ive always used them for tyre repair or replacement. only about 9 months ago they changed hands so completly different lot working there.

Ah well, it has cost you £90 to learn that if ever you want a job done properly, you do it yourself, and if you have to pay someone to do it, you watch them like a hawk, and then check again that they did what you agreed before you pay anyone.

Cost me more than that in the past :o
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I would want an email conformation, it could be a different manager in 4 months time, what if your man is on holiday.
    Does that include fitting?

I need to check, he said just to write his name on the receipt. I asked that he wrote it on my account name as i had all the details and they already had my name and address on the computer, but he said no his name would be fine, unless he was sacked in the meantime. something else ive probably done wrong to.
