New Year, New Plans and Hopes

Hello all.
I can't sleep so I thought I would do an update. Probably had too much excitement or sugar today :rotfl:.
The de-cluttering is still ongoing and I have a bag ready for charity pick up on Tuesday. Some of my old books, which were going to the cs, have been earmarked for the DGS, so although they aren't going anywhere for now, they will be in use again.
Our new windows are being installed next week, so I hope this weather perks up by then, we have had snow and now heavy rain tonight and I don't fancy having patio doors installed in this weather .
Hope everyone is still trying to continue with their own plans etc. Good luck to all.

Evening all
We have taken all the blinds and curtains down ( except the lounge ones ) in readiness for the window fitter due on Monday. The blinds have been dusted and the curtains all washed.
I have also sent a bag of stuff to charity and put an old sleeping bag and a pillow in the rubbish. Still a lot more stuff to get through, but it is going slowly.
Hope everyone's plans are still on track.

Good morning every one and Wow how brilliantly you have all done over the past three months .
Looking through the posts its inspiring to see how many changes have come about simply by small things.
We seem to have all become more positive and hopeful, and as opposed to "Make a New Years resolution, and break it before the week is out' Baby steps seem to work better
We have all made a few small changes to our lives which had grown and become second nature . I think you are all fantastic and its very heartening to think that one small post just over three months ago has been like a pebble in a pool, and got you all thinking about the 'Yes I can do that ' instead of 'Oh I give up ,or CBA' :A:A:A
I have had at time a difficult three months, owing to three funerals to attend (its more common when you get to my age sadly) but I have battled on and managed to do some of my original things done.
And a good few more besides as well.
I am still battling with my freezer emptying but at least there is room now that there wasn't in January and I am hopeful that by the summer (should we ever get one ) my freezer will get defrosted at last.
I have done quite a bit more knitting and become more involved in the Making Miracles charity locally.quite a bit more socialising though so I am having to learn to say no with a smile to some things
I have become a GreatGranny for the first time and am totally besotted with baby Erin born on 26th March, she is adorable and I am her slave for life:):)
I am away this week on holiday to my beloved Ise of Wight with DD son-in-law and DGS, we are hoping for some dry weather, but even if it rains it doen't matter too much. Then I have another week in June away with my friend to Stratford -upon-Avon which I am looking forward to and then another two week on the IoW in August.
My DGS in NYC keeps mithering me to go out there for a visit but at the moment I am far too busy, and I have a full calendar until the end of AugustBut my indoor stuff has been good, and lots of projects were started AND finished which was great I even helped DD redecorate her downstairs bathroom.Decluttering has come on in leaps and bounds and ,especially with clothes if I haven't worn it in 6 months its gone forever.
Walking has been not done on a regular basis as the weather this year has been dreadful, so I am hoping with the lighter evenings I will be able to catch up on that.
I abstained from my passion for ginger nuts for Lent and that was a tough one I really am hooked on themA cuppa just wasn't the same without them. But Lent is now finished so I am a happy old lady once more.
But to all of you who have come along for the ride well done and its fantastic how one little post has changed so many peoples outlooks and lives I am so proud to be a part of all your efforts
Have a great week chums, and read back and reflect today on how well you have all done and the changes you all have made
Its lasted far longer that a 'New Years Resolution' hasn't it ???:j:j:j:j:j
Cheers chums

Thank you JackieO :T I really like the analogy of the pebble in the pool. The fact that you used ‘Plans & Hopes’ rather than ‘resolutions’ has been a great help to me. It has meant that if my Mojo disappears for a few days I do NOT get disheartened - I just dust myself off & get back on the bandwagon. I am enjoying the space I am creating & the amount of ‘stuff’ that is leaving the house whether it is recycled, binned, relocated or cs’d
& my DH is fully on board - has fully redecorated the bedroom for my DSis when she moves in & the upstairs landin & stairway has been decorated & recarpeted :T He is also decluttering bits & pieces from his office & garage :j
Have a great holiday JackieO & I look forward to your posts when you get back

Congratulations Jackie, a great granny that's double the indulgence of a normal gran:j I hope you have many joyful moments with her.
Enjoy your holiday.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Hi all
MrsSD I managed to cull 4 mugs out of 6, so I'm pleased with that. The other 2 were a Grandad one and a beloved Star Trek one ( neither have been used ) so they have gone back on top of the book case........... for now.
Today I have let loose another frying pan which has seen better days.
I am hoping than when the new windows are in and we are decorating, I will find a lot more stuff to get rid of, fingers crossed.
Keep up the good work all.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

Yes, I feel the same way! :T
I feel so much more positive this year.:)0 -
Congratulations on becoming a great grandmother , what a wonderful feeling. I've a way to wait yet as Josh is only 11
I'm still very very slowly getting through the decluttering. It's the 'office' and my wardrobes I'm struggling with
The wardrobes , it's because I've a pile of expensive clothes which no longer fit or are suitable at my age, but I'm loath to throw them away. And the office, well that's full of junk, seriously junk, boxes of programmes for Windows XP, a couple of computers in bits, piles of paper work.
I've got as far as bringing up a black plastic sack. If I can get in this week and clear the floor area so I can get in there it will be a start
I really don't know what is blocking me from this area, the rest of my house is quite orderly and I'm ruthless in other areas when I decide a clear out is required.
But I will get it done before the year ends, I've promised myself
Weight loss is going the right direction and I'm still motivated with staying alcohol free. I do have little slips on the weekend,Saturdays usually , but still keeping it well below recommended limits.
Exercise hasn't really improved, bikes still in the shed but in my defence we have either had snow or rain every day this year so nothing outside is being done
But like all that are posting, the seed has been planted and grow I will0 -
I noticed a few people on here in the last few days are kind of reviewing their "Plans and Hopes", I'd come on here because I was feeling disheartened about falling off the wagon re: my own Plans and hopes. However, I read mine, and was surprised that, although I haven't focussed on them particularly, I seem to have nibbled away at some of them. Tartan cushion covers not made (I got the material out and felt guilty about the prospect of slicing up such a lovely large piece of high quality wool fabric ..... hmm, could do with some advice on that attitude methinks). However, the garden plan did exist, and although I've done no actual work, each time I stand at my kitchen sink, I muse about the plan, and formulate a mental checklist of what I'm going to do. Now I know that isn't rolling my sleeves up and doing it, but I've just come round from some pretty major hiccups in my life, and some genuine weather excuses, so maybe I can go easy on myself for not having started. The long and short is I've taken heart from some of your posts on here, our Mug Shelf is about to be pruned in the next five minutes, and I feel marginally more positive that at least some baby steps have been taken towards the goals I outlined way back at the start of this post.0
