Salted caramel sounds more my thing than earl grey, I have to say. Although, in the Lakes, it's a crime to have anything other than Thunder & Lightning (which would definitely be appropriate at the moment!).

I'm not sure I'd know what a ladybird larva looks like!

Had a quick look on their website wishingthemortgageaway and couldn't see a raspberry and mint sorbert, although the earl grey ice-cream wasn't there either. The one we went to is next to W.H. Smith if that gives you an idea of which one it is.

    :D

Yes, it is that ice cream shop. They also have a second, bigger outlet on lake road (opposite the big, metal giraffe) they often have specials which I presume the raspberry and mint sorbet & the earl grey were which are very short production runs. Although, as I'm in keswick for 3 weeks in July/August, I did ask them if they could have it on for just a few days.

I thought the weather was returning to normal this morning, but it's cheered up again this afternoon. I agree, we deserve some nice weather after all the rain we normally get.

Only a quickie, and we're down under £125k! :T :T Roughly £6000 paid off since mortgage start at the end of 2016, with £1600 or so of that as OP. Doesn't sound like much, but bearing in mind we've saved £1000 a month for wedding fund in 2018 and had costs associated with the new house before that, there's no room for complaint :D

    Further £51.32 OP this morning - £50.00 Populus payment, and a £1.32 TT :A
  • Congrats on the balance, I'm slowing approaching the 125k, seems like a nice goal to cross.

Please send inspiration I'm struggling to find savings at the moment....maybe that's got something to do with house renovations!

Maybe so Northern Peach - house renovations can add up massively! It's a long-term thing however; short-term pain for long-term gain and all that. Keep doing the little things & being accountable for every penny and the balance will start falling :).

Thank you! I have to say that the last 3 / 4 months have been much easier than the first ones; our money saving & OP'ing is now force of habit more than anything else which makes us feel we could keep going at this rate for quite a while. Things change though, so best not to be complacent whilst the sun is shining!

Back today from the state visit down to see my parents who live in West London. We headed down on Monday, and came back this afternoon. Whilst down south I've ticked off my annual cardiology appointment (required due to complications when I was younger), which all went smoothly, although I do have a very flabby leg which is being referred to a local hospital & may be lymphadema (think I've spelt that right). Will see how that one plays out in time, but no reason to be stressed as it doesn't get us anywhere to worry

It was a spendy time away as we took my brother & sister-in-law as well 2 of my 3 nieces / nephews (nandchildren?) out for tea, as well as OH - set a budget of £200 which we were way under, so *might* have spent the remainder on some treats for us & a couple of rounds of drinks for some old friends I've not seen in a while. It seems you've gotta buy good company nowadays! :rotfl:

So, anyway, have been feeling slightly guilty for the spends, so will endeavour to have a cheap-y week coming up. We're off to OH's mum & step-dad tomorrow for tea, and off for 2 nights to OH's Bio-Dad this weekend to see their new house. Me and the poor car will be knackered come Sunday evening :D

IFA has emailed us today to discuss remortgaging to stay on better rate :T Have been meaning to email for weeks (months!) now but have kept putting this off until "nearer the time" - am now a tad concerned that I'll look like I've been slacking when in fact I've been counting down the days :rotfl::rotfl:

Sent a few questions back for discussion - particularly interested as I think IFA advised that all remortgages came free of charge for the life of the mortgage. Will be interested to see how that one plays out :A
