Really, so who enforces the continuous insurance rules?

correct b , if it is taxed , then it needs insurance in place , however at the point of payment the DVLA do not check this ,

    see http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-2520649/Need-insurance-certificate-buy-car-tax-axed.html

and note the words "Police and the authorities can now make automatic online checks on whether a car is covered by cross-referencing the vehicle’s number plate with the DVLA and insurance industry databases.

Yes, but the police don’t enforce continuous insurance. That’ll be the dvla.

You can tax it without insurance but thats just a nice easy way for the DVLA to fine you for not having continuous insurance.

Tax it tomorrow and pay for December?

I had this problem with an american import (motorcycle" , insured it to take for an MOT on chassis number , then had about 6 mths delay sorting NOVA , insurance co would only accept chassis number for 2 mths , , DVLA paperwork sent in , reasised no insurance , so I rung them

insurance is not needed to be in force at the time of taxing

If it’s taxed it must be insured, the law clearly states so.

.also I am going to road tax it tomorrow, I have the MOT cert. and the V5C/4 and am told that you no longer need to produce an insurance cert.......is that correct......any info. appreciated...... Jack.

Jack , you can indeed tax the bike without insurance , but you must obtain insuranse ASAP , because of continuous insurance rules , and also police/ANPR

    a quick tip for you

when trying to get quotes , never say "today" or indeed next day, if you do dummy runs , you often find that starting a week later drops costs , a nice little earner for insurance cos , with people wanting collect and ride home

For police or anpr to be an issue he’d be using it on a road so would need insurance regardless of the tax issue.

How quick is asap to get insurance?
