Cheapest Moped Insurance ?
Options
O.k.....seeing that some use has returned to at least one of my legs, I have decided to take up metal detecting, and have purchased a small 50cc moped as transport.......does anyone have any experience of insuring these things ?...... I am looking for a fairly cheap option.....also I am going to road tax it tomorrow, I have the MOT cert. and the V5C/4 and am told that you no longer need to produce an insurance cert.......is that correct......any info. appreciated...... Jack.

If it’s taxed it must be insured. So are you going to insure it tomorrow too?0

I was informed by the DVLA that insurance is not needed when taxing a vehicle , they leave that (the checking/detection) now to the police , moped insurance can get interesting , because they are prone to theft , by all means use online to get best quotes , however if its of chinease origin , you may find companies like Ramsdens (check speeling) may be betterSave a Rachael

AndyMc......that is the plan, yes......but surely it only needs to be insured if it actually "sets foot" on the highway ?......JackRetired (Early) April 20150

Really, so who enforces the continuous insurance rules?0 -
My daughter has insured her chinese ped through Carole Nash, not sure what actual company it is with but buying through CN gets breakdown cover included, which has come in handy due to a starting issue leaving her stuck at work, only a mile or so but too far to push it home.
As has been said theft is a problem with mopeds, she just has 3rd party as the fire/theft bit had a £500+ excess and was more expensive and as the bike was only £650, she/we took the chance.0 -
