Got several quotes via Go Compare.......lowest for third party f & t is £70: 11 p......I reckon that will do.........

Get quotes from Jan 1st and unless you need to use it immediately try dates later in January.
Tax and insure it on the same day. Pointless having one without the other.

Thanks to all for the replies......bike will be insured, and taxed, from 1st Jan. 2018.......perfect, as I gotta wait for a new crash helmet to arrive........Jack.

When I had a 50cc moped back in 2002-2004 I had insurance through Choice Quote.

Also the rules regarding Tax, MOT & Insurance is the same as a car.
