Got an 18th birthday present to buy in the next couple of weeks. No idea what to get an 18 year old male. His Mum said to give him money but would prefer to get a gift really. Everything for 18th birthdays seems to be beer orientated though :rotfl:

Not doing too bad on the christmas front though.

I'm with mandco on the money thing for 18th - at that age they tend to want more expensive items too and can put the £ towards that. Several 18yr olds I know have put their birthday money towards driving lessons or savings towards a car.

STOKIE Must admit I do money for the older teens too because it’s so easy to get their taste wrong at that age and I hate wasting money on stuff they don’t like/won’t use. It goes against the grain at Christmas (although I still do it) but I don’t seem to mind money for birthdays.

Thanks GYD I’ve already used up my last remaining gingerbread candle so I don’t want to miss out.

MANDCO just a heads up that you won’t get much in Smiggle for £10, it’s basically overpriced tat but unfortunately the kids seem to love it. My DGD is nine and she’s definitely still into slime and squishies but also loves bath bombs (Holland and Barrett sometimes have them in their sale at reasonable prices). There’s also some great unicorn stuff about although whether the craze will carry on or be replaced is anyone’s guess.

We’re missing a few of our regulars, hope you’re all ok and just too busy to post.

Smiggle have a Sale on atm if that helps - and they do have a 5 for £5 range (still overpriced tat) but sometimes aged 9 / 10 it seems to qty over quality for kids.

  • Vulpix know you got your chocolate oranges now but for anyone else after them they were scanning at £1 today in Morri$ons (they have been £2 up until now). Not seen the plain ones though in the red box yet. We definitely had them in stock last year when the went to £1 though so they may well make an appearance soon.

  • i have not seen any chocolate oranges on my shopping trips recently but will let you all know if i see any.

I think i'm going to make a list this weekend of ideas i want for gifts and then i can start chipping away at it.

I always like to be finished my Christmas Shopping at the start of December then i can enjoy wrapping and card writing.
I usually do this with festive nibbles and alcoholic drinks, but the nibbles will have to do this year as we have recently found out we are expecting our first child (due May)

    Congratulations

Sains have choc oranges for £1 started today apparently they had the dark choc ones in too which they haven't stocked for ages so that is another thing ticked off.

Smiggle if def on the expensive side but its given me some good ideas - thinking maybe a small stationary hamper with pretty note books & sparkly pens ect ?
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk
  • Evening everyone, sorry I haven't been on AGAIN, I don't know why?? We have had half of the garage cleared and the same person has cleared our garden, really nice bloke, it took him 7 days  that's how bad it had gotten, when I get 5 mins I will put some pics on IG, he has done such a good job, we just now need to tidy up bits that are old and shabby, get weed control matting and then save up for shingle. The fence panels aren't up to much but they will have to wait for the future, it will cost a bomb for my size garden.

Christmas wise I have bought an outfit for Thumper and my choc stash is coming along nicely, I got the 2 tins of chocs for £7, missed out on the gingerbread matchsticks (serves me right for not coming on here sooner :D) when I went in they were £2!!! Needless to say I didn't buy them! I got my toblerone bar and choc orange at HB where it was a £1

Hope you are all well, its getting very Christmassy on here, hello to all the newbies

Great news about the garden Free, will make Charlie Dimock out of you yet!

For the first time ever I cannot think of what to get DD1 (25) for Christmas. She is quite alternative so more mainstream stuff doesn't hit the spot.I have a few bits, expensive makeup remover, mug etc I like to have a few things for them to open even though they are grown up now and would probably prefer money.I am doing ok for my son so far (27) I feel like I want to get him plenty to open as he is single now and won't be spoiled like his sister will be by her partner. I am doing ok for DD2 (17 next week).

Not a clue for Mr V and chocolate and biscuits for the Grandmas.

If anyone were to ask me what I would like for Christmas I would say perfume or handcream or a tree peony.

    Vx
