  • Afternoon everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the run up to the big day. I have had a fab December, definitely my most organised this year. I’ve really had time to enjoy myself. Except my washing machine deciding to break down, and the repair bloke not being reliable! I have mountains of washing grrr!

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY have a fantastically relaxing Christmas my lovely. I’m sure those families were very grateful for all your hard work. I would have had to have walked away too, you always get one who thinks they’re better than anyone else

04624181 I hope you feel better soon and have a lovely Christmas

3FORTHEHOLIDAYS if you are happy to do the new thread that would be fab! I especially like Step into Christmas but am happy to go with the flow

FREE, Glad to hear you had a good December. I've been more organsied too and feel better for it. Hope you get your washing machine fixed easily.

The last of the presents are wrapped. I'm good to go lol.
Just waiting to do the Christmas Day food shop on the 23rd. I plan to try and get a reduced turkey on Christmas Eve again. There's always a frozen stuffed joint as a back up.
Hope everyone is all ready and can find time to relax and enjoy the festivities.

Hope everyone is getting on ok and all ready for the main event.

I am working ridiculous hours (midnight finish tonight) and expect today will see the start of the real busy spell with most people being paid. I am exhausted but I think everything is done so am not stressed out. Looking forward to 3pm sunday as then I am off for three days and can enjoy Christmas with both sides of the family.

Just wondering: is anybody else having a pre-Christmas snack-treat?!

We have had mince pies for the past 2 evenings, as an evening snack: 'sneaking' in a treat before the EVENT kicks off properly next week . . . Lovely with a nice glass of hot orange juice! :)

  • Please forgive my long absence, but l have been facing major(for me) challenges. Firstly l was having tests to determine whether the breast cancer was back, But l got final bone scan result back this afternoon and it hasn't. Secondly and dreadfully, my Nephew died nearly three weeks ago aged 45, and then at the weekend l got word that my brother in law had died. This has been a really tough time. l kept the tests secret from everyone except fave coz, she came with me to every one and told no-one what was going on. l didn't want people worrying unnecessarily, and because l am no good at lying, or dissembling, it was easier to stay away from the thread. l have missed you all, and l know that l would have had your support, but it felt right to me not to subject you all to my gloom. However, now l can mourn my family losses, and offer support to my DSILs and Coz, and their families.
Christmas is back at the front, and my family arrive on Christmas eve.
l haven't read back yet, but will try to catch up with all the news, hugs to all of you, my lovely cyber friends. xxx ps it is good to be back.

MrsI good to have you back, I'm quite sure we all understand why you needed to take some time out. So glad to hear your test results all came back clear, well done to your wonderful coz for being there for you through it.
So sorry to hear about your nephew and BIL, there's never a good time for these things but it can seem so much harder at this time of year when everyone expects you to have festive smiles plastered on your face 24/7. Glad to hear you are able to stay positive about Christmas and spend some time with your family.

Apologies for my absence, I have been busy wrapping, delivering and last minute 'doing' this week. Thankfully I have managed (thus far) to stave off the lurgi, unlike last year and all gifts are where they need to be (bar one for my aunt / uncle) that DM can take on Xmas day with her, food is bought bar dessert which I'll get Sunday / Monday, and visits / planned socials completed.

Just some housework to do now, a bit of cleaning / tidying and also a small bit of diy that I have been procrastinating over.

I'm already thinking about gifts for next year now :rotfl:

MRSINVISIBLE it’s lovely to have you back, we’ve missed you. What an awful time for you but we all deal with things in our own way and as long as you know we’re here for you then you dip in and out whenever you need to. I’m so glad the cancer isn’t back, I know what a relief it is to get a good result after my three monthly blood tests and I only have to wait a day so I can imagine how you’ve felt. You must be reeling after losing two people you love so suddenly but I think it’s typical of you to be focussing on how you can support others. Fave Coz definitely seems to deserve her name, you sound like a very loving family.

APENNYSAVED for the first time this year we haven’t started on any of the Christmas bits early, I’ve normally worked my way through the Heroes by now and had to replace them but this year they’re all still in tact!

I’m all done now apart from picking up the food from M&S tomorrow. I’ve only just looked at the order confirmation properly and although I definitely ordered a mushroom pithivier (pie) for the veggies, it appears to have morphed into a parsnip, Camembert and chestnut one. I hope they still like it although I’m a bit miffed as we’re having baked Camembert for starter so now the veggies are having it twice.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Mrs I- Im so glad that you can breathe a sigh of relief now your results have come back clear so you can go full steam ahead (knowing you) with Christmas. Your fave cuz must be worth her weight in gold to you x. Im so sorry for your losses( that always sounds so trite but the feelings are heartfelt xx). Enjoy your family being over, you deserve to have a wonderful family Christmas -you are really a lovely lady!

Well Im all on track for the big day (I hope I haven't spoken too soon!). I just have the neighbours cards to deliver tonight on the late night walk with The Hound and I am done!

Im afraid we have dipped into the Christmas food cupboard already, Ive had to replenish both Twiglets and After Eights this weekend and tbh the cheese is looking like it might be doing vanishing act as I fancy cheese and crackers for my tea!
