Hi. I hope you don't mind me posting. I was reading the thread and you have all got me feeling very festive! I just wish I was as organised as some of you are. x0

Welcome to the thread AMPERSAND and STEP. This is definitely a good place to be for all things festive. I can’t help with the evil game but I’m sure there’ll be someone along shortly who can.:D
Well the main tree is up and the front room done. The back room is all done apart from the tree which I’m planning to do today and then it’s the outside lights hopefully later today or if not then Wednesday. Other than picking up a last bit for DH I’m all done present wise so it’s the food to sort now although I’ve got a free range turkey breast and a pithivier for the vegetarians on order from M&S so it’s really the cooking plan that I need to get written out.
Hope everyone is ok. Can you believe it’s 3rd December already! It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
I have my (small) tree up. (Three sons, one husband, no help.) I have sorted & distributed presents for parents, sisters, aunt & cousins [the Rudolph Run saves loads of wear & tear & postage but it is fraught at the time]. All I have left to do [heh] is the Annual Epistle (a masterpiece of near-fiction hand crafted to reassure relations bearing at most three truths but packed with credible family goings-on), and presents for the menfolk. Who are a picky set of mortals but who know full well that if they want to get the presents they want, they need to tell me. With weblinks if at all possible.
Charmed by a pithiver - never heard of one - I love this site! Two lads happily destroying their advent calendars, but individually both nominated Cards Against Humanity as an Evil Game. Almost certainly not to be played in multi-generation environments without *everyone* imbibing. (Do read the Amazon reviews, and/or consult carefully before buying?0 -
Bought a little 3ft tree today to put my Disney advent baubles on. Have put it upstairs.
I have four presents left to wrap. One of these hasn't arrived yet as it was a last minute purchase and one is a massive box so need an extra pair of hands to help me.
The rest is all wrapped and sorted into bags ready to be distributed over the next couple of week.
I feel ready now!£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120 -
Amoersand depending on how mean you want it, there's some pretty big meltdowns posted on FB as a result of UNO.
Well festive spirit was in short supply yesterday, was supposed to have been up to the big smoke with DM for the ballet and she was unwell unfortunatelyI'd really been looking forward to going and seeing the festivities with her and the tickets were hard to come by so to say I was frustrated is a new understatement.
However, today is a new day, and my lovely best friend messaged me to say she's got us tickets to see the same ballet locally in Jan as my Xmas present. It was so thoughtful of her I actually cried
So, festive spirit levels restored, I've wrapped a couple of gifts for the post (.using up some embellishments from my ribbon box...though nothing that should tear the envelope or paper in transit) and will take those to the post office tomorrow.
Still no decs up as yet, and a pile more presents to wrap though. Have decided on something I will get OH should he not see anything else when we are Xmas shopping,Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I am now 99% finished with my christmas shopping. I just need to buy a voucher for my brother in law then I am done :-) I realised yesterday that I hadn't bought anything for my boyfriend as a main present. I'm usually very organised but not this year! I couldn't think of anything so I asked him last night what he wanted/needed. He asked for some Warhammer that is about to come out, RRP £100 but I managed to pre-order it FOR £80 with free delivery! Here's hoping it comes in time for christmas.
We don't have a tree this year as we just adopted a cat, she's bad enough without having a tree in the house!!Nic- its not you x. I think kids get tired at this time of year as its a long ish half term for them and if they are in the middle of important years there is extra pressure on them with work at school. Plus they are getting excited about the big day, and you are probably more pressured than usual because Christmas is looming x. All contributing factors. (or it could just be the dreaded 'teens kicking in x)0 -
Sorry I have been awol. Bought and wrapped everything before the first ready to put the tree up and enjoy the run up. My ceiling had other ideas and decided to kiss the carpet. So my living room was rubble and looking very sorry for itself. It was one of those jobs that was going to be done in the spring. So my relaxed December has mainly been spent sat on DSs bed with him and Ted whilst the builders salvage my living room. They have lamps drying out the new plaster and promising me that they will be finished before the carpet fitter on Wednesday. One good thing was they took the radiator off the wall to find an exposed live plug, glad they found it and not me when I usually fish down the back of radiators with a wire coat hanger for lost socks. So I think this will be one of those Christmases that we will look back at and laugh at because at the moment if I do not laugh I think I will weep0

Good afternoon ladies ,
All ready for Christmas here even the majority of the food shop completed other than fresh items . I even have an idea for my dad for next year so may order that next week .
The trees up but we have decided not to put anything outside anymore it gets too cold having the electrical cable coming through the window when its blowing a hoolie , im getting way too old to freeze just for a few lights .
We have found a new social group for Dd and she loves it as well as a weekly get together they do day trips and short 2 day trips at least with this group she will be well looked after and if there's an issue we can pick her up as all trips are UK based .
She had to have a tooth pulled yesterday so is feeling a little sorry for herself today , it took a lot of effort to get it all out but she was amazing . The dentist was really good with her explaining what was going to happen and how it would feel .She never flinched i on the other hand couldn't watch and felt very hot by the time it was all over lol.
I hope everyone's plans are coming together ready for a stress free Christmas .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
GYD it looks like you were meant to have that room done before Christmas! I hope they get it all sorted for you, it must have been a horrible shock. Thank goodness neither of you were hurt and it didn’t actually happen at Christmas when you might not have been able to get any help to sort it out. You’ll definitely laugh about it in future years but I can quite understand why it isn’t very amusing now. I’m sure you’ll soon be comfortable in there again. Hope George is coping ok.
CHARLOTTE yes cats and Christmas trees are an interesting mix. My favourite tree decorations are three handmade felt robins that are over thirty years old now and which were the only salvageable survivors from the original six after they received some uninvited attention from my kitten. He grew into a lovely boy (although never really lost the hunting instinct) and I had him for seventeen years and I think of him every time I look at them.
KERRI that’s so disappointing (and even worse when you can’t even justify being angry at someone) but how lovely of your bestie to get tickets. It’ll be something to look forward to when everything is feeling flat.
STOKIE I like the idea of a separate small tree to put your special baubles on so they can really be seen and not lost among everything else.
DIG FOR VICTORY I had to Google it and see what it was before I ordered. Of course it’s not just a pithivier, it’s an M&S pithivier.
CHRISSY that’s great news about the new group for DD, it sounds ideal and will be great for her and a lot less worry for you.
Well both trees are up and the outside decs are done too - we managed to find a gap between the rain to get it done. I’ve written the cards and they’re ready to go and final pressies have been ordered and are due to be delivered on Monday (they’re really extra pressies but I could t help myself). Now it’s all about food, upcycling crackers and trying to decide where I can put the table
Hope everyone is well and happy. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0
