Well the decorations have been taken down & are back in the attic. There is now no trace of Christmas apart from the leftover chocolates and a few extra lbs on the scales.

Peppa - Thankyou, I definitely agree that I need some downtime so I am counting 'relaxing with a book' as part of my productivity. Reason being is I love to read but last year for various reasons, I never actually finished a book. I started reading maybe 2 or 3 books, but didn't finish them. I have stacks of books in my bedroom that my OH is starting to get fed up of, so if I read them I can then give them to charity or the library, which helps to declutter & keeps me on my productive track.

We seem to have birthdays steadily throughout the year. One almost every month of the year, however May, August, September & November we have 2 birthday for each of those months.

I had a lovely quiet weekend. I kept busy in the house but didn't venture outside. I really dislike the weather we're having at the moment, I don't like the cold anyway but when it is also really windy I just prefer to stay indoors.

Nic, I always feel more in control of things when I write stuff down. It's strange because I make lists on my phone all the time, but I don't feel quite right until I have written it down on paper. On my phone I have a shopping list note & add things to it whenever I think of something I need to grab, but when I am actually going shopping I write everything down on paper. I then throw the paper list away, delete the phone list & start again :)

Vulpix, you are on a roll. Well done! I sorted out DD2's clothes on the weekend & have put her summer clothes in the attic. I also put all her Christmas jumpers etc up there. I know they won't fit her next year but my thought process is that come November I will get them down & put them on ebay. I don't imagine christmas jumpers sell for much at this time of year, but come November people will be looking for them again so I should get something for them.

On the ebay note, I put a few things on ebay last weekend & they finished yesterday. Pleased to see how much 2 of the items went for. The other 2 items didn't have any bids on them on Saturday evening & only had 1 watcher on, so I ended the listing. I know it sounds mean but I didn't really want that 1 watcher to bid 99p plus postage for them & win. It would probably cost me more in packaging, driving to the post office & paying for postage, so I'll try them again in a few weeks & if they still don't sell I will do a car boot sale. The thing is they are the sort of item that I have had decent money for in the past, so I was surprised that they had no interest at all.

I have put 4 more items that don't end until next Sunday, but 3 of them already have bids on which is great. I just have to be really disciplined & make sure I post everything quickly. When I've done ebay in the past I run out of steam & take a bit longer than I should to get to the post office, because I'm trying to fit it around work etc. I always message the buyer to explain I've not had chance to get to the post office & so far have not had anybody complain, but I know that won't always be the case and because I want to ebay quite a lot this year to declutter the house, I want to keep my ebay feedback as good as possible.

LMG try the Christmas jumpers on FB in November.I think people will pay a fiver and pick it up but not a fiver plus postage on ebay.( well me anyway)

Christmas decorations are sorted and back in the loft.Only 9 boxes instead of the 11 that there were.I have put a small white tree in the bin.Whilst I was in the loft and I had DS' muscle to help me,I had a good tidy and got loads of stuff down to sell/donate.At the moment in the kitchen there are 5 banana boxes of stuff to take to a carboot sale. They will have to stay there for the time being,no where else for them to go.The kitchen is massive though so they wont be in the way.I have a bag of towels for the local cat sanctuary and piles of stuff to give here and there.Just DD2's room to do now.

I got the mahoosive curtains out and got Ds to hold one up at the french doors. They are just so big. They can go back for the next house.I can't face the battle of trying to cut them down.

I am on the lookout for a dark green vintage velvet curtain.I can picture the old tablecloths with embroidery of British birds looking great with dark green.

I have ordered some new duvet covers from John Lewis for our room and will change the curtains to some green ones. This is my first time ever of having green in my house.Getting adventurous in my old age.

It is very quiet here, hope everyone is OK.

    Vx

  • All kids are back at school, adults all back at work.. so i had a mooch around town and spent way more than i should have oops.

Our wilkos had their xmas stock down to 75% off today... grabbed lots of wrapping paper, some window decs and some tree decs to add to xmas pressies has labels.

Also went into superdrug and grabbed a few more zoella bits, whsmith i got an eraser calendar for £1.50 (was £10 full price) which i thought was different and a nice pen set down to £2.50 from £10 too. and some baileys and harding candles in tescos down to £2 and season 8 shopkins duluxe sets down to £3.90 from £2 and the 5 packs were down to around the same price too.

So much for not grabbing things this year lol.. its started again! teehee must not get to the nearly 50 gifts dd4 had last year though. And i was very good and didn't grab just cause they were a bargain... could have done my xmas shopping twice over now if she was younger but shes going to be 9 come xmas so will be more choosy i think with her gifts come then.

I just need to grab my dd2 some smellies from the boots sale and keep an eye out for some smellies sets for my dd4 then my sale shopping is complete for now i think.

Don't really have a clue what to get my girls as gifts this year. 1st year ever im stumped lol im sure it will come to me though. i hope.

Afternoon everyone. Hope we are all ok. Been making simple cards with my craft stash...mainly just seeing what works well together. Have lots of papers that need using up so will just make cards and might stick a few on eBay if I feel I get to a stage I want to sell.

I had a really annoying cough past week or so but hopefully now it seems to have pretty much gone and hasn't turned into anything else (touch wood). Hope everyone who was feeling off colour is now better.

Only news here on the xmas front is that I bought a card for DM next year. We usually go out in the sales and for the past couple of years she's picked her card for the following year in the sales too. Didn't see anything this year, then she messaged me to say she'd seen on in town and if I was going in and happened to see it then that was her pick next year. So I did - except I just said 'oh if I go in and if I see it' and then said I wouldn't be telling her either way, she'd just have to wait :D She'll have totally forgotten by Dec too :)

Also got a couple of cards for birthdays in the sales (we have loads to send throughout the year)

Other news is that I've made a start on using my embellishment box. I wrapped a friends b'day present early (which was part of the issue, me always wrapping in a rush at the last mo) and then enjoyed taking time to use some bits to make it look pretty - so some silver ribbon and a bow later - ta dah! :money: We'll see how long this lasts. :o

Hoping the B00ts sale is next week for a gander - though I've already picked up bits I really did want at 50%.

    Glad everyone is ok.

MRSG I did the same, was adamant I wasn't going to buy anything for next Christmas until nearer the time but today I bought some silver and gold pens and some Christmas ribbon and three nice Christmas tins reduced in Aldi. The tins are tea caddy size and say things like 'let it snow' so my plan is to use them as wrapping/boxes for pressies next year. I did resist buying more baubles though.

*sneaks back in* I don't think I have been on MSE for the whole of 2017...OH bought me a cricut machine for Christmas 2016 and I fell down the bullet journal rabbit hole so facebook seems to have consumed my time. but 2018 is the year I will come back...I have missed you all and this thread.

I haven't bought anything in the sales for next Christmas which is unheard of.

looking forward to catching up with you all x
