Note to self. I do not NEED any crafting stock for a good long while. My days off are now going to be spent making cards from what I have and having a few made ready for when events come around ...might even stick some excess bits on eBay if I really feel I can't use them.

Hope everyone has stayed safe in the winds. Hasn't been too bad here really thankfully. Blowy enough but not pouring down with it and they seem on and off not constant.

  • Went to town today and it was absolute pants. Nothing at all worth getting and the kids only spent a tenner each from their Christmas money. At least it saved me a bit of dosh and the kids decided to save their money for few weeks when the new stock comes out. Not de Christmased anywhere yet. Really haven't the energy xx

    Evening everyone.

I did get some sale shopping after all. Ordered a half price Burt's Bees gift set for myself that I'd been eyeing up before Xmas in the Amazon sale (sooo much better value at £10!). And two bracelets (also for me lol) well reduced on NOTH. Got to treat yourself! ;)

Still haven't come up with any 'proper' resolutions. Just have a vague notion in my head of wanting to be more creative, start some very very very very light exercise (Tai Chi from home maybe? So I'd be able to stop easily if it made me too ill), do something more interesting with regards to volunteering and just generally make more effort to make friends/be sociable (which isn't easy with a chronic illness). So not much then. :rotfl: I just sort of feel so stagnant right now - since I finished my OU degree in 2016 I've felt so unproductive and useless (I know I'm not really).

Decorations yet to come down here, think it will probably be tomorrow or friday now. Does seem odd having decs up when thinking about the coming year lol.

Hope everyone is keeping well and that those nasty bugs going around stay away!

  • Hi everyone, the weather is mad here, the wind is really bad. Last night someone's porch roof flew off and went flying down the road in the middle of the night. Nightmare still going on at flats and currently can't sleep there due to a nightmare neighbour screaming for help all night and into early hours of the morning. Due to my chronic illnesses I need my sleep and can't risk it so I'm back at my parents house to sleep.

I got a few bits in tkmaxx today, a snowman dog toy reduced to £2.00. That's been put by for my dog for Christmas. I also got a gardeners handcare set reduced to £4.99 Crabtree and Evelyn.

I'm doing hampers this year as my parents were dropping hints last Christmas. So I am writing lists on what food items to get them.

I've just started a Christmas stocking cross stitch, one day I can gift it to someone. It will take me a while anyway.

Today has been the first day of being back to normal routine.DD2 back to school so I have half taken the decs down in the kitchen/diner.I have also been through every drawer, cupboard and shelf in the kitchen and sorted masses of stuff to carboot.I just need to go through the built in alcove cupboard and that room is done.As I put the decorations away I am also putting some in the carboot box.

Yesterday we went to Sheffield.DD2 got some nice things in sales, skirt, top, trainers.I just got some Jaeger socks in TKMax for DS birthday.

Tomorow i am out to a friends for lunch and then meeting DD2 from school to take her to buy some material for a jacket she is making for textiles at school.I want to nip to Homebase as i fancy a door wreath in their sale which i have seen on their website.I would also like to go to Dunelm if I have time, for duvet covers seen in their sale.

Treasure queen,i have been fancying doing a cross stitch. But i must be very strict with myself and finish off what i already have.I made a silver table runner for New Year with fabric and trim I already had.Next I need to make some cushions for DS's flat. I have the fabric (welsh tapestry, was a70's poncho from the charity shop, black and mustard.)Have the pads.

I have some old tray cloths and tea table cloths which my great Aunt embroidered.I never use them.Would it be awful to cut them up and make a patchwork from them? What do people think?

  • Oh my word, you lot can yack! Happy new year everyone. Finally managed to have a look at MSE world, only to discover that I have alot of catching up to do, so will attempt over the weekend.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and that you managed to get as much sleep as possible. I got so much sleep, it was fantastic, didn't realise that I was that tired.

Now back in the real world again and have taken to writing things that need to be done in a notebook as I think of them. Sadly, the list is getting longer :( Actually have a free weekend this weekend, so will hopefully be able to cross some of them off. Would normally start doing things on a Friday evening, eg clean bathroom, but I am off to the Palladium on Friday, really looking forward to the panto, and again in Wimbledon next Friday, so I have already lost 2 evenings :( Never mind, I can be the tortoise in the race!

  • Our entertainer is having a refit for 6 weeks or so come the end of the week.. walked passed yesterday and they were selling everything 50% off.. thats including already things on offer. Shame i had my youngest with me really or i could have done her xmas shopping. I did grab one nephew and niece a xmas gift though. Just one niece to get for. The girls also spent their xmas money. so got £45 worth of items for the £22.50.

My oldest has a bad tooth infection atm, ended up at a&e with her 2 nights ago as her face looked like she'd been in a fight. 5 diff pills later and i hope it gets it under control.. sadly there is about a 3 month waiting list for them to remove the troublesome tooth so hopefully it calms down enough way before then. Shes still going to work so can't be too painful just looks it.

Still on the look out for a new bed for my dd2.. i want a day bed she wants a double bed lol but we shall see. got a few more weeks until pay day to decide.

Few more days just pottering around before school run fun starts again. im bored lol might sit and felt something this afternoon.

Hope everyone is well and happy :D

Stokie - you sound like my friend who posted a pic on FB on 1st January with 4 black bag size bags full of crafting stuff, mostly wool because she knits & crochets, but also other bits as well. I was shocked at how much there was!

mrs-moneypenny - I think I am going to do that. I always leave buying birthday cards to the last minute & then have a mad rush to the shop on my way to their house just to get them a card, then I usually can't find a pen so have to buy one (which then gets 'stolen' by my 9 year old, hence why I never have a pen in my car). I am very tired today so I think that might be my productive time for tonight, making a list of birthdays etc so I can buy the cards in my lunch break tomorrow.

Mischief - I did quite fancy going into town to have a nose round the sales, but all I've heard off people is how they've not really been any good & top that off with me seeing how rubbish the online ones have been, I don't think I'm going to bother now.

Clumsy - I love the Burts Bees orange facial wash, it's the only one I use now because I find anything else I've tried has either made my skin too dry, too oily or come out in spots. I buy it now through Amazon subscribe & save. Your 'not proper' resolutions sound fab to me. They sound achievable & at the same time you are not putting too much pressure on yourself :) I am also taking my decs down tomorrow. I have made a start but still have the 2 main trees (small ones are now down).

TQ - The wind is awful isn't it! Our outdoor decorations have been blown around all over our front garden. Your TK Maxx buys sound good. There is a TK Maxx on a retail estate which I pass on my way home from work, so I might pop in later if I can be bothered. I did a food hamper for my OH this year. Some of the things I put in it were:

    Bucks Fizz
    Pate
    Crackers
    Bourneville chocolate (his favourite)
    Chocolate fingers
A few different chutneys & jams
Green tea (he's a tea drinker, I am most definitely not)

Vulpix - my daughter isn't back in school yet. She doesn't go back until Tuesday & I'm dreading it. She loves being at home & I just get the feeling there will be a few tears Monday night/Tuesday morning. I think the patchwork sounds a lovely idea & means they will be used rather than just sitting in a drawer hidden away.

GTQ - I was thinking the same, I can't believe how much we've all been talking already! I know it will probably slow down a bit soon & then ramp up again at the end of the year, but I do like to read what everyone has to say :)

msgiggle - That's fab, I wish I was lucky enough to find those sort of sales. I think I would end up having to pop back without the kids if I'd found that. Ouchy, tooth infection sounds painful. I hope she recovers quickly! Ikea do a nice day bed, it's in the Hemnes range. We used to have it in white, only replaced it eventually because we were redecorating our daughters bedroom & she didn't want it anymore.

Well my plan of being more productive is working so far. I did a lot again yesterday evening when I got home from work and I already have things planned for tonight. I am very tired today so not going to do anything too strenuous, I'm going to put a few things on ebay & make the occasions card list (thank you moneypenny).

I picked up a gift box in the Clintons sale today for £2 to put my gift ribbons / embellishments in. Its one with those art deco ladies on - got a bigger box than I planned but wanted room to put things in without them getting squished. Now I have to make an effort to add them to presents when I wrap them.
Also was very good and resisted buying any of the 50p paper in Sainsburys today.

I too need to buy b'day cards for folks - I have some (mainly for kids b'days) but have a friend and OH this month who both have b'days so need cards for them.
