Suicidal washing machine caused property damage, how to proceed?

Sure, I have no intention of this. I just don't want to be tied to the absolute cheapest thing going if it would look obviously out of place in the otherwise cream coloured kitchen.
Yes, they are. In their own words, "If you're happy, I'm happy".
Took me a couple of hours all told. It's my dishwasher, not the LLs. Getting a professional in would have required space which simply wasn't available to take the machine apart. I muddled through in the available space.
No, we'd like a bit of extra goodwill compensation for the upset this has caused, especially at this time of year. Something towards the hours we have had to spend dealing with it all and the huge extra hassle it has been to be able to prepare and eat meals etc.
WHAT EXTRA HASSLE IN EATING MEALS!!!!!
Do you really believe you should be compensated for Eating!!!!
I have heard of compensation culture but this is LUDICROUS as well as RIDICULOUS!!!0 -

Trying to fit five people around a coffee table since the kitchen one is full with all of the pots & pans from the broken cupboards. Not being able to prepare or serve up proper meals.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -

There can't have been that many pots and pans, it was only 2 cupboards damaged, the sink full of washing up and the other general mess of the kitchen was clearly already there. And there was no reason whatsoever why unbreakable pots and pans couldn't be put back in the broken cupboard for temporary storage. Or why didn't you just move the table in to another room to sit around?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

You probably shouldn't have done this anyway, such work in the case of a rented property should probably be carried out by a professional.

I think the point they're trying to make is that you can only claim for your actual losses. There is no entitlement to damages simply because the other party breached the contract, only if that breach actually caused a loss that was foreseeable and could not be mitigated by taking reasonable steps.
Likewise usually (very limited exceptions) you cant claim for time spent/inconvenience because its to be expected that a breach of contract is going to cause inconvenience and require time spent to sort it out.
By all means ask them for a goodwill payment, but if the kitchen was more than a year or two old then you might want to proceed with a lot of caution lest they withdraw their offer and decide a repair will do/they'll only offer a proportionate amount for the old kitchen rather than covering the cost of a new one.You keep using that word. I was actually thinking if the pots n pans being on the table made dinner so inconvenient, I'd have put the pots and pans in storage containers. If I had no spare storage containers I'd have put them in a black bag if need be rather than having them on the table in the way.You keep using that word. This is exactly why I used the term goodwill in the first place, and we weren't originally talking about it at all; its nowhere in my OP. WE assumed it was unforeseeable parts failure, and therefore not the manufacturer at fault as such. However since it has transpired that it was caused by their negligence, I think that from a customer service/relations standpoint they should want to offer something extra.
But you make a good point about being careful, which is really why I posted for the advice about it.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0
