There's people with money to go on holiday, after all the hoohar over the British population living off food banks???
That's where we go when we realise we can't afford to eat, after having spent far too much on travel ;)

I love the escapism of reading about other people's travel plans.

We will be going to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote in January.

Driving the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland early April.

Cruise in June, destination under discussion, but will be Mediterranean or Norwegian Fjiords.

Spain in September. Pretty much run of the mill, but we are so fortunate to be able to do it.

I have done all the long hauls I want to do now, so it's Europe for now. :j

You will need another holiday to recover :)
  • Am just looking at flights now and in a quandary. The villa we book in Kefalonia is only available from 23rd June for 2 weeks. Flying from Manchester on a Saturday is really expensive, so much cheaper if we add an extra night, go out on the Friday 22nd and stay in Argostoli, even allowing for the extra nights hotel. Actually, typing it out makes sense of it all. An extra night and works out cheaper, it's a no brainer!

It's my 50th next year and I would love to do 4 nights in NYC and then 10 or so in Mexico. I mentioned this to my husband and he visibly blanched so at have some persuading (and saving) to do!

And, in only a couple of weeks, we have 3nights in Glasgow, my favourite city in the U.K. Really looking forward to that.
  • Bruges for 2 nights in February then Belfast NI (Giants Causeway etc trip) for 4 nights in July then maybe 7 nights in Austria for my 40th birthday & xmas, health depending

Nile River Cruise and Cairo for 10 days in April for OH’s special birthday.

Baltic Cruise with the family in July to celebrate 3 special birthdays followed by 4 nights in Disneyland Paris with youngest.

Hope to squeeze in a couple of trips to Spain to see family (one booked in March already) and waiting to see where DD is placed for her year abroad at uni.

It’s going to be a busy travel year and we’re already starting to plan 2019 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000
    MFi3 v5 #53 £12531/
    MFi3 v4 #53 £59442/£39387
  • All being well, we will be having a weeks break in Scotland next summer. I'd like to go abroad as well, but not Europe and the rest of the world will probably be loads of hassle. Rewind when holidays were good without the interrogation in customs....

My idea of Costa Rica isn't looking quite so likely now as, having looked into it, the main draws are hiking, kayaking etc. I'm all for a couple of days hiking but I neither have the fitness or desire to do it for the entire holiday.

My last couple of holidays have been very active (India & Chile) so I feel the need for something less strenuous for 2018. Perhaps Malaysia or the Philippines but I need to do some research over the next couple of weeks. I want to book the flights in January.

Don't give up on Costa Rica Ballard! It's probably the most beautiful place I ever saw, everything was a real wow factor, & we only stayed in Jaco. We took the bus, did a few tours, got a taxi, & had a driver for a day, although we thought it was expensive but he took us out for 12 hours so it worked out quite cheap really.

I've been to Cambo, Mexico (again), & I actually went to Spain too. So it looks like I'm the poor relative in comparison to some. Mexico was MrD's favourite place so I had to return to get him there, plus I had a great deal. Spain was our short flight to encourage him to want to fly more, unfortunately, our flight was delayed by 14 hours so that didn't go down too well. I told him we should've gone to Vietnam. So hopefully, once he's got over this I can sweet talk him one more time.
