  • Ay up sweetie

Gosh, reading about your life is like whooshing down a mountain, covered in the slippery white stuff - you sure you ain't still 'across there' ???? :rotfl::D

Good that you are all safely back amongst us :D

You would heartily approve of our actions today :D we went out for lunch :D to a caff that utilises 'waste' food rather than allow it to go to landfill. 2 courses for sicksquid - quite, quite reasonable methought :money: There was also a crate of food that you could take away from for a donation. I stocked up on some citrus, which should prove bonny as it's lovely and ripe :D

I don't normally eat so much at lunch, so I'm stuffed - but you'll be pleased to know that I had soup and a main, and left it to DH to manfully conquer a main course and pud! :D

Boo! to the parking ticket! There was a case locally where the camera had failed to pick up the car exiting the car-park, and the people had been fined for staying in the carpark overnight. They fought and won, so don't take it lying down!

Hope you have mucho fun and frivolity planned for the weekend celebrations ;):D:cool:

Evening all - well I totally crashed and burned yesterday so that was expected eh? :D

Nice to have some visitors :) sounds like you had a great adventure there Greying me dear - what a great idea for a cafe. And so bargainous too.

Hooray for ripe citrus - we've had an EPIC watermelon here - which sounds odd but how often do you actually get a proper ripe one?

Parking fine is defo being challenged I'm not sure they're legal for private parting in supermarkets in this country. Wee monkeys.

Made a bit of progress on the list and seeing if I can score a few more off but we've got blistering sunshine, wind and frequent showers so lots of outdoor stuff is not really getting done.

DH home and finishing last assignment and has exam 2 days after birthday - so its a very quiet house the now. I don't think hoovering and vaxing carpets might be the way forward for his sanity sake.

Birthday is a wee retreat in a wee bonnie place and some books, just me and the kids and hopefully a chum, although there are not 100% sure they can make it. So got a wee escape a few miles from frantic study man - he should manage to pop in, he needs a quiet house and we are hardly quiet material. So nothing soooperdooper just a wee chill weekend with the younglings and books/scrabble and a dip in the indoor pond. :D perfect for me I don't really like parties. Renting a wee breakaway less than 10 miles from the house isn't really very MSE but I did get a mega deal for it and it works out less than £30/head for the whole weekend.

Beanie thank you I've slept alot today and made some grub and DS has chopped logs (delegation on a bit of the list) :) I hope you've had a great day. Did a bit of reduced shopping, went to the local ironmongers to get paint for the table/fence. Walked on the beach - all good things.

Also went to the local farm shop and got some gino oyster mushrooms - read alot about using that as a meat substitute for things like giant oyster mushroom 'pulled pork' as they shred well - trying to see if we can instigate a few changes in our food get us a bit healthier.

I was veggie for many many years (12, which given my age isn't really that significant) and going away to a very heavy meat based main course resort (with a lot of good veggie variety) I was more drawn to the veggie stuff so it got me thinking. Healthier and cheaper. No brainer really.

Although oyster mushies from the shop doon the hill OOOOOOOHH but this is an experiment with a new recipe and if I'm to get DH excited best try something proven eh?

RT hooray indeed. All emailed and I;m on the list for the next batch of releases from the farm. Donation of 3.50 minimum per hen is amazing (they're 30 or so each) so its supporting a local charity too and I do love a good rescue hen they're so tenacious.

tea is chugging in the oven - sun is back out might try and do something............

    Have a good one.

    I made a decision.

I'm not growing any veg at home this year, I'm going to just grow flowers for cutting. They make me smile.

I do have mothers day potatoes chitting so I will grow those but tatties aren't veg right?

I'm trying to develop a cutting garden at work and this is part indulgence, part research.

    Why not eh.

Of course we'll still have a tonne of fruit (apples, gooseberries, rasps, tayberry, jostaberry, bramble, rhubarb) and wild garlic and herbs. But, we've so much produce at work I can buy cheaply and use - seems good to support that. And, do some swapping. I can take it flowers they can give me veg :)

Its an experiment. I'm trying to bulk up the perennials in the garden as I want to put in a very informal permanent cutting garden for my good health. So if I use the veg beds as prop beds, its very much more MSE. Honest.

Its very odd as I'm a produce gardener - so goes a bit against the grain. But, I want to do it and some of the flowers will be edible. Honest.

    :)

I can imagine you having a herb garden like Granny Weatherwax
Pigeons that venture into it and manage to get back out again would be staggering about and giggling :D

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

  • Morning campers.

Sorting out more of my list today. :)

Set up a donation thing for b'day to support Marie Curie :) which is dear to all of our hearts right now. I did it with the book of face, lazier than walking 100 miles I know but it all counts. :)

Hoovering etc whilst himself is off out submitting his assignment and got the oven on cleaning.

Suns out so its time to get some washing on and paint the table outside.

    Coffee first though.

    :)

Hope everyone is happy campers today.

  • Me too Beanie :)

Sun/Showers so not painting table today unless it settles.

Done a whole pile of chores though so that's OK>

    FANFARE:

Whilst I am not debt free for my birthday - circumstances have slightly changed and I'm ok with that, so despite being on the way I have just put on my big girl pants and CANCELLED one of my overdrafts of £1000 - scary yes - very but I have been in the black in that account for 3 months + now due to brothers loan of 1000 but I've moved that over to another savings account and I'm still in the black due to too much work/no time to breathe and frugualbugal Jan/Feb/Mar

And, have paid a good chunk the balance of the Credit card.

    Leaving me with

    ONE OVERDRAFT
    ONE balance on CC
(and a student loan I'm not thinking about yet as I'm paying that back slowly at work)

Need to tot up the sums, but been blinking ages since the bank let me in so I couldn't cancel it and do some moving about until today.

    HUZZAH.
