Overall very good, income has risen by 8%, 5 year fix on the mortgage + better deals on utilities and telecoms has saved us £150 pm. Just starting to diversify and work our money a bit harder with Vanguard, P2P lending, premium bonds and a load of little regular savings accounts so hopefully results in 2018 will be even better.

Thats a good return. I only managed 15% in GBP terms (so 25% in USD terms).

Are you fully invested or partially (is that return based on total investible assets or just the invested part?).

The pound has appreciated against the dollar this year going from $1.20 to $1.35, but I have a very small allocation to the UK.

My return is denominated in percentages and my accounts are 18% bigger now than at the beginning of the year.

What is your account balance (and thus the % return) shown in, £ or $?

then your return in £ terms is not 18% but only 8%. not taking anything away from you, 8% is still good. Its just that it needs to be made clearer on a thread such as this so we are comparing apples with apples and oranges with oranges. currency matters a lot!!

The key things are currency and what the % is based on. If i bought BTC in Jan this year for £100 and the rest of my hundreds of thousands were in cash then i could say i made 1000% or whatever which would be impressive buts its only on £100.

I’m just under 3% cash, so I haven’t included it.

Good generally. Moved the remains of an interest only mortgage to a 5 year repayment fix, which should wipe out the balance pretty much by the end of the five years.
Unitised value of the family portfolio up around 16%, and beginning to move away from growth focused to income focused.
Youngest now in permanent employment after training years, so independent / earning a salary.
Business continues to do OK and make a profit, and even getting the EU customers back who dropped away after the financial crisis 2007 / 8
