It was "At Last The 1948 Show" with Marty Feldman and Tim Brooke-Taylor, (with Cleese and Chapman) and if you watch the various versions the original has by far the best comedy timing, especially compared to the later Python stage shows. I claim the tedious pedantry award and must try to get out more.
I was going to to mention that too but considered it too pedantic. My mum one told me she was always afraid that Marty Feldman's eyes were about to pop. Poor old Sidney Lotterby apparently he was a real person working at the BBC at the time and they mercilessly mocked him.0 -
