Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 UNLOCK question

Hope someone can help me? I have a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 phone and my contract with Vodafone has ended. I would like to go to a sim only deal with another company. BUT I've been told that because my phone is a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, I can't, I'm stuck with Vodafone. BUT someone else has said I can, I just need an unlock code from Vodafone.
Does anyone know which is true? Due to horrendous customer service from Vodafone, I really want to leave them, but I don't really trust any phone shop assistant, as I'm a basic/non fancy user, who they just aren't interested in.

I can't remember which one I used as I have the Vodafone SU6 too but I unlocked it on the day I bought it. It's usually really quick.

Of course it can be unlockled. And having had a contract they should do it for free. *FREEE* So don't pay.

Don't go near shop staff though, they probably won't be helpful.

** Well the number they gave me did not work becuse they missed off the preceeding 0 at first. I suspect they get the file back as a CSV and excel decided that regardless of having quoters round it, it treat the unlock code as a number! Still was sorted out! (This is when I unlocked one of my contract phones).

My Son and I both had Smart Ulra 6s locked to Vodafone. Once the two year contract was up I tried the online form without success, then went into my local Vodafone shop who gave us the unlock code no problem.
