Gatso Camera flashed me twice head on as i was driving towards it

Hi all,
I was flashed twice by a Gatso speeding camera that was facing me on the other side of the road. I was stuck behind someone doing 20mph on a 30 road which was extremely frustration so when they pulled off the road i just lost focus and put my foot down, no excuses, just me being stupid and inattentive and its that plain and simple.
This was at approximately 10:30pm last night. This mornin I called the 101 number to get the ticket office to which i have called and they said that camera is only meant to catch on going speeders on its side of the road and shouldn't have flashed at on coming traffic for speeding. they said to call every few days to see if my number plate is somehow with them or not, for peace of mind.
I am concerned because firstly i was speeding, and secondly there were in fact lines on my side of the road and there were no cars on the other side of the road present at the time so i do fear it is me that set the camera off. i am aware these sometimes go off by themselves to re calibrate or something but if thats the case whats the chances to have done it at the exact same time as me...
has anyone ever been flashed by a Gatso camera on the opposite side of the road and received a NIP?
your help would be much appreciated guys.

They're not type approved for forward facing detection so nothing will come of this.0

yeah sorry for the duplicate I had some guy write a sarcy comment about it being in the wrong section so I put it here0

Assuming this is the location and streeview is up to date, that's definitely a Gatso and not a Truvelo:

The Gatso's are not type approved for oncoming traffic but the Truvelos are, some Gatso's have been replaced by Truvelo's which catches people out.0 -

Well, I'd say that regardless of whether you get a ticket or not, the amount of stress it is causing you is a win for the argument for installing dummy cameras.
Given that your excuse is that as another driver made you angry so you floored it in a 30, I'd be quite happy to be judgemental and say you are prime candidate for a speed awareness course. However, I suspect you'll think more carefully about your speed now, so job done.
I wouldn't hassle the police if your speed was really excessive. You might encourage them to take a look at the photos to see why you are so worried and do some manual calculations that could stand up in court. If it was say 80mph rather 40mph I'd keep very quiet. Fortunately, i suspect that conversations about speed cameras on 101 probably go straight into the round filing cabinet on the floor.
Some cameras are set up to fire from either side of the street, some have to be set up depending on which traffic they are going to monitor. Some cameras do fire from the front. To actually answer the question, as databases or StreetView may not be up to date, you could take a picture of the camera and markings and post it and then people could confirm what type it actually is.0 -

Is that something you know, read on the net, have personal experience of or just made up?0 -

Not sure wat's so amusing, seeing as he's basically right.
Truvelos and Gatsos can both be used from the "wrong" side of the road by being turned on their mounts but must be recalibrated depending on which lane they're monitoring, and will only take rear (Gatso) or front (Truvelo) photos whichever way they're facing.
Truvelos aren't supposed to flash visibly to avoid dazzling drivers but there are reports of some doing so - likely because of damaged filters on the IR flashes they use.0 -

I've flashed cameras twice that have been facing me - all a long time ago before the current types 10-15 years ago. Coventry had one on a dual carriageway where I lost track of repeaters in a lit area after a junction and was literally blinded by the flash. Another was Evesham which was an old traditional one that just went off as I passed at normal speed but nothing else around to trigger it that I noticed.
I guess my point is that Gatsco and Truvelo don't mean much to the man in the street, and there was a slightly evil thought of testing just how desperate the OP was.0 -
