Thanks Dawn...
I have ordered already so many free samples!
Also on my break at work need to do some uni prep - starting phd in October and applying for studentship....0 -
G'day all and welcome, Missyfree, I am doing the same hours as you today though sadly no 10p bargains!
Dawn, sorry you all have the lurgey, nurseries are a positive breeding ground, aren't they?
I did my 'big' shop last night but there were a couple of things that had sold out, namely a bag of prawns and some mince pies so I will try to grab some before I start work today. I didn't go overboard but did buy a tin of choccies and a few cheeses for a cheeseboard, I need to remember to buy some nice ham for sandwiches too but yesterday's didn't look brilliant, I will wait until a new one comes out.
I also added a few cans of body spray to wrap for DS instead of the aftershave I'd usually buy him, the effect seems to be much nicer and makes the bathroom smell lovely too!
Not much else to report, just work, work, work but I am off for a week after this, have a good day all!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Good afternoon!
She's back and she's badder than ever! Well, probably not but I'm out of bed which is good!
Purps - that sounds very scary. I had to learn the hard way to slow down. Be gentle on yourself.
Dawn, DNMS - I hope you don't have what I have. It sucks.
Well that's been an exciting few days. Basically a nasty fluey cold has decimated my office (only about 3 people unaffected!!). After telling you all that I was snotty but surviving and off to the meeting, the following happened:
Got to Sailsbury very late as sadly someone had killed themselves by jumping under a train near Hemel Hempstead
Checked into the hotel, had some tea, then went to bed with a book feeling nice and sleepy. Then proceeded to wake up every. single. hour. with fluey aches and shivers. I was hot and cold and sore. Then came Tuesday morning and I had to go to the meeting. We got the train from Sailsbury and managed to find the place. I was wondering how I was going to keep my $h!t together until lunch time, when we could leave.
Apparently I couldn't. Excused myself after 10 mins of the meeting, thinking I could hide in a loo for 10 mins and try to pep myself up, but got up and nearly fainted in the corridor. They must have seen me go a funny colour cos one of the chaps came out to find me sitting down outside with my head between my knees. He put me in a side room and then called the first aid person. Then I got the chills again so the first aid guy had to put me under a foil blanket. I laid in the little room for 2 hours while they had the meeting with the first aid chap and HSE lady (who were very kind and lovely)
The journey home was so long... I was so happy to get home to my bed. Where I have pretty much stayed until now.
Felt like a right plum duff I can tell you.
Current stats:- 2 bottles cough mixture
- 1 pack strepsils
- 2 packs cold and flu tablets
- 8 honey lemon and ginger drinks
- 4 whole loo rolls
- 4lbs lost
- 0 festive feelings
Today's mse things:- Finish wrapping the Christmas presents
- Make the cakes for the neighbours as gifts
- Tie up the mistletoe that I collected last week before I got sick
- Hoover the front room and air the house as everything is shut up and nasty from being a plague pit :rotfl:
Have a good one folks

Gosh CLF, you poor thing
I just have a snotty cold, and would be fine if it didn't make my asthma play up. Sleeping is impossible because everytime I lie down I struggle to breathe. I manage a couple of hours by propping myself up with pillows almost into a sitting position, but can't sleep long like that. Apart from that I am fine, walked into town to the post office this morning.
Not sure if anyone else has had this, but I just got a message from ebay to say that they had retracted a bid on an item 'because the bidder isn't a member of ebay', with a long list of instructions on what to do if this bidder had won and paid for the item. I had a look, and they had bid £599 for a little bag of beads and broken costume jewellery bits :rotfl: I guess it must have been some sort of attempt at money laundering or something. Anyway, it was blocked and the beads went for 99p :rotfl::rotfl: As long as ebay only charge me fees on the actual 99p sale
Got the bits I wanted in Boots using reward points
Got some bread and grapes in Iceland using bonus card savings pennies (I tend to save little bits of change on the card if I buy something in there and pay cash). Almost managed to avoid spending actual money.... but then I saw a nice Per Una skirt in the CS.....0 -
Stopped smoking 2nd attempt since 1st attempt was from 2007 to late 2009
Much more relaxed this time as I have medicine for 1 year at least until Oct 2018.

Wow Dandytf - think of the pounds you will save if you can keep off the fags. I've no idea what a pack costs these days, but I bet it's a great saving.
Welcome to newbies. I've posted on this thread for ages now & it really does concentrate my mind on good financial habits. I'm happier being a lot greener too, as I simply consume so much less.
Well, I've enjoyed my baking day. I'd never made pork pies before & they came out lovely....just hope I don't mess them up tomorrow when I finish them off by funnelling pork stock & gelatine down the holes in the lids. There was too much filling, so I squidged the leftover bit into a burger shape & mr f hoovered it for lunch. The Italian biscuit recipe tastes fab but they were very difficult to slice neatly for their second baking. Good job I wasn't on 'Bake-off' as the bleeper machine would have gone into meltdown! Stuffings made too & sourdough loaf. Mr f is cooking dinner tonight - a chance for him to catch up with all his geeky free podcasts. My bum is now firmly welded to the sofa. I shall read my charity shop book & sew up my latest knitting project & watch 'Love actually' (again) tonight with maybe a little nip of last year's blackberry & apple vodka.....well that's got to be 2 of my 5-a-day, so positively health-giving.
Sorry to hear so many of our penny-wrangling regulars have gone down with various lergies. CLF - that must have been scary feeling so poorly on your long distance work excursion.
Wishing everyone a peaceful evening & hoping our absent regulars are all ok.

Hello all, sorry to hear some are poorly and going through the mill! As a few newbies have joined today I thought I'd also pop my head around the door. New name, but old friend, although RL events have kept me away from here for quite some time. It may be a year or so since I posted, but I still think of you all every time I iron my pillow cases after I turn the iron off
Am preparing the ground for a new diary, renewed focus in 2018 but inspired to start a few days early

Welcome to the newbies, this is a great thread, I finished my IVA earlier in the year but I find this thread helps keep me on the straight and narrow.
Hoping all the poorlies are feeling a little better for Christmas day.
CLF sounds absolutely awful what you went through, esp when working away.
Went out with bestie today, absolutely shattered tonight. Things have got in the way of the relatives arriving- arriving much later and so my mum hosting. Got my DD to run Christmas presents over quickly. But will get to see them over the next week and one is staying for a few days so will see them tomorrow.
A few spends today. A fab top that was just perfect with 50% off. A Christmas present from me to me!! Also picked up a couple of small bits for presents for next year, also 50% off.
DD went out to run a few errands. Popped into Tesc#s for a loaf, said it was very quiet. Picked up the loaf and a rhubarb pie for 30p which will go in the freezer.
Plans for tomorrow-pick up the turkey......i'm not going to do a foxgloves-but very envious of your baking!!!!!!
Plus the traditional Christmas Eve fish and chips and spend time with the family. Also need to find and get out all of DD presents........have given up on housework!!!!!!Decluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Carrie  that sounds terribly! Must have been really worrying to have been so far from home feeling like that. Probs the head hunting didn't come to fruition then??!
finally things have slowed down in paceboth social events were lovely yesterday, but it's nice to have a change of pace. Think today I have recovered enough to go out for a run again :j
1smallstep I think I'll take your lead and put some washing out on our newly erected washing like :j Actually need to do another load as well as it's piling up at the moment!
Heating is off - as need to kick up a gear on defrosting the turkey! Also forgot to get the gammon out yesterdayso will be cooking that tomorrow as well! Intend to prep veg and parboil potatoes today
I will need to walk down to the coop and get one thing I've run out of so will wait until later so can hopefully catch any reductions. A baguette for tea tomorrow would be good
other than that just relaxing, crafting & laughing the day through
may all your day's be peaceful and full of joy today :ADF as at 30/12/16
