What small moneysaving things will you do this week? W/C 18 December

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning! :D I've been awake since 4.30 :eek: probably a bit earlier as that was the time I gave up trying to sleep and came down! Decided I might as well get up rather than just lay there thinking "go to sleep"!

    Been quite useful as finally sorted out finances, put all spends in diary, paid cc, updated "pots" - always feels reassuring to be "straight" - gotta love a bit of a budgeting geek out sesh! :cool:

    Also did meal plan and final shopping list - how can we want/need more food???? I think I have a GC problem at this point!

    Things to do today:

    * housework
    * washing
    * bake a cake - am going to a text a mum at school (when it seems a respectable time to do so!) to see if she has a mini cake tin I can borrow. It's dd's birthday tomorrow so would like to make but we're so over caked by this point!
    * nipping into town for a few bits so trying to get all my chores done today!
    * go for a run
    * simple jacket pots for tea for me and madam. Oh has his works xmas do. Thinking about it that probably means I'll need to give him a lift to work and possibly pick him up....
    * listen to audio book and knit...
    * will wrap the last of my xmas gifts today
    * make humous

    Ok that's enough. Have a great day everyone x

    Morning all :)
    Blimey, that was an early start DNMS - I thought it was only me did daft things like that :rotfl:
    Actually I got up just before 7 this morning, which was much more respectable :)
    Take a couple of paracetamol for the headache I woke up with :mad:
    Got a hospital appointment today, plus family visiting overnight, so today's 'things':
    Wrestle spare duvet into cover, and pillows into pillowcases
    Walk dog x 2
    Post office with weekend's ebay parcels
    Get fuel for the car
    Apart from hospital parking, I am not intending to spend anything else after yesterday's supermarket bonanza :eek:
    Planned easy evening meal with jacket potatoes, cold chicken and salad, or veggie sausages and chips for kids if they would rather have that :)
    Bought rubbishy gateau thing at the SM for pudding - I just know I won't feel like loads of cooking after being pulled around at the hospital! But there is fruit or Dundee cake as an alternative to the rubbishy gateau if required :)

    Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Aww, sad news 1LL. A time to treasure those memories, something I've really found myself this year with having lost 2 dear people. Thinking of you x

    Hi Frugal Friends,
    I haven't finished my job list today but have called it a day as cba with either vacuuming or updating grocery budgets. Moneysaving stuff achieved today:
    *Laundry done on a reasonably economical wash cycle & drying on heated airer.
    *Use-it-ups: empty conditioner bottle cut open to reveal sufficient product for 3 more uses. Mouldy lemon (only the peel) cut in half & used to clean sink, 2 starting to go squishy tomatoes used on tonight's pizza.
    *Baked bread rolls with rest of dough after making pizza base.
    *Fed sourdough jar ready for baking a loaf later in the week.
    *Finished knitting the chunky hiking socks I've been making for mr f. Free, as used leftover yarn from stash.
    *Marzipanned Christmas cake using an unopened pack of marzipan leftover from a previous cake earlier in the year.
    *Sorted wrappings from mr f's birthday & put some nice paper, ribbon & a couple of good envelopes away in my recycled wrappings stash.
    *Forgot to buy a pepper for my pizza but had a pot of chopped pepper tops in the freezer. I chop the tops up for this very purpose but thought I'd used them all.
    *Contributed a few words of wisdom (aka sarky comments) to a brand forum I'm on at the moment. They keep paying me, so my anti-capitalist views must be good for something....probably just making sure they've got all bases covered!
    Ok, am off to feed cat now before he collapses with hunger (which he's been threatening to do all afternoon)

    Sorry to hear the news, 1LuckyLady, but how lucky you were to have her long enough for your kids to know her, four generations!

    I've been in bed all day as I got the migraine from hell last night, it was my own fault as I didn't get enough sleep the night before, woke up late for work so didn't have time to eat or drink anything until 1pm. They are definitely getting worse now, I used to just feel nauseous but now I do actually throw up but feel better for it after I have.

    Today I've just had a slice of toast for breakfast and an egg sandwich for tea, DS cooked something that smelled amazing using some gammon ham I brought home from work but I wouldn't have been able to keep it down!

    No sales so far today but yesterday went okay with about 8 sales all of different items. I have requested another disbursement, I do love getting paid while I'm laying in bed!
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
  • Thinking of you 1LL and your family. Reminiscing is good, important to share the memories.

    Not much achieved today as I ended up in urgent care last night after I had to call 111 :eek: I have quite a high pain threshold but boy I felt bad. 9 hours of various tests and things and all ok but could have really done without it in the big scheme of things. Really do think it was my body telling me to slow down :(

    DH made big batch of cauli pasta which will do for dd lunch tomorrow and another meal for us all
    Smalls had last of birthday cake for pud
    Washing on rads
    No spend at hospital as nothing was open and wasn’t going to buy over priced drinks from machine. Took refillable bottle of water with me
    Written to do list between now and Saturday
    Offered friend some Christmas craft things that will go out of date that I haven’t used. We’re only from £1 shop
    Early night to catch up on sleep

    Hope everyone is ok. Sending festive good wishes to everyone :D
