During lockdown I have been doing checklists for the three middle children each day. They have different things on their lists, some work things, some household things. Once they have done their lists, they are free to do what they want. It’s working quite well. My oldest boy comes to look for the checklist in the morning and finishes his by lunchtime. The other two aren’t too keen but do get it done. The oldest two girls I leave them well alone and they sort out their own work. And the youngest only starts school in September so she doesn’t have any work to do yet!

I have also been doing lists for my teens. I have also sorted a loose schedule for me as I found I was doing nothing. (one self employed job not able to do atm, and one wfh job where I am furloughed). Its helped a bit.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉3

Definitely lists are the way to go! My two teens either make their own lists or just generally don’t do very much. Then my eldest surprises me by cooking dinner once in a while!
We played a new game today whilst tidying the living room. Basically the eldest had the water sprayer and anyone who wasn’t tidying got sprayed with water. That included me as well at times. Tomorrow it will be dd2’s turn to hold the water sprayer. I think the eldest is going to be very wet tomorrow. But at least the living room looks a bit tidier. It’s never going to be a show home in here and I think I have gotten over the fact that my house will never be a show home!5 -
So two days to go and my weekly targets are looking as follows:
- make cushion covers from recycled fabrics 5/5 - done
- make five pairs of shorts 0/5
- sort out toy boxes 1/5
- plant tomato seeds 9/15
So I didn’t make any progress yesterday. Not sure what I was doing all day though. It just kind of went!
But today is a new day and I am hoping to get the tomato seeds planted and a couple more toy boxes sorted out today. I’ve also woken up with a sore throat, I hope it’s not the start of Coronavirus 😭.
I had better get on in case I am feeling ill later on. I don’t want to fail with my first weekly list!3 -

Thank you seaside. I do feel a lot better this evening. Not sure why I woke up with a sore throat but it’s gone now.🤔
So update on the list:
- make cushion covers from recycled fabrics 5/5 done
- make five pairs of shorts - 2/5
- sort out toy boxes 1/5
- plant tomato seeds -15/15 done
So today I have made a couple of pairs of shorts and planted a load more tomato seeds. I could have done more really but I got stuck watching Luther. I don’t normally watch much on tv, the kids normally take over and I had always heard that this was a good program but I had never watched it. Well I started watching more on my iPad and found a series called murder 24/7 on iPlayer. I loved it partly because it follows the investigation and partly because it is set near to where I live so it all seems a bit more interesting when you start to recognise streets etc. So when I logged into iPlayer, it suggested Luther so I thought I would give it a go, and well it’s safe to say I am hooked! I love it and I am slowly falling in love with Idris Elba as well.
Tomorrow I am starting the 30 days to a clean and organised house and the main thing on the list tomorrow is to do the daily cleaning routine. I am determined my house is going to be tidier and cleaner and although the kids are at home, I am off too and we do seem to have extra time available.
Right off to watch another episode before bed and maybe cut out a pair of shorts ready to sew tomorrow x2 -
