I do admire you - it must be so hard keeping all the children occupied in these difficult times. How lovely that your 14 year old devised the Easter egg hunt for her siblings!😀. I hope the savings pots go well.
Glad to read too that you've been sewing!Thank you for posting. I have caught up on your diary yesterday and will comment soon!
Yes I have had a bit of a rough time and still working things out. I have a family support worker in place who thinks I am doing really well in this crisis but to me I still have really bad days and then better days. One of my inspirations is Honeysucklelou who always seems to get loads done. I need to keep reading her diary as it motivates me enormously.
It is nice to be back and ”see” all the same people posting. It feels like I have come back to a welcoming family.

Right I must get on. I woke up early this morning, updated YNAB and then went back to sleep again so I need to get on as I have plans to try and get a few things done today. I think I need to think about to do lists and mini day lists to get things done whilst keeping kids entertained and alive!5 -
Thank you. It feels good to be back. I did seem to get things done and then had a really bad time. But I am back now and ready to stay as I need to finish paying my car loan off as well as saving hard. Not sure what for yet as I am deciding my next move but I do need to save as I’m not getting any younger!Drawingaline said:Lovely to see you posting again!3 -

So today went a bit better than the day before. I woke up early, reconciled YNAB but then fell back to sleep. However, I got up, got the two youngest sorted and took them to youngest’s dad for a few hours. When I got back I managed to paint one and half fence panels in the garden and have designed and sewn a new cushion cover. I am trying to design and sew a new cushion a day at the moment. I am using recycled fabrics, so shirts, jeans, dresses etc to try and use up some bits I have got laying around. The cushion covers are all one offs and I am hoping to sell them. One has been sent to someone on Instagram who is going to promote my work hopefully. I do love sewing clothes but there are so many businesses out there selling clothes that I am trying to find my niche. Cushion covers at the moment seem to be the way to go. I also do memory cushion covers and have orders for four memory cushion covers for year 6 children leaving primary school this year. If I don’t sell any of my custom cushion covers, I or one of the children will have them. You can never have enough cushions!!
Right must go to sleep as I am wanting to get more done tomorrow and need to sort out a to do list for April!3 -
What a lovely idea, a memory cushion cover. Is that a form of appliqué?paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

The ones I make from school uniform are squares of the different items of uniform put together in a patchwork. I have made a few last year but am really focussed on making more this year.Honeysucklelou2 said:What a lovely idea, a memory cushion cover. Is that a form of appliqué?4 -

It is a lovely thing to have. I have also made cushion covers out of nursery sweatshirts as a different type of cushion if you only have one piece of clothing.Honeysucklelou2 said:Sounds a lovely momento of school days🙂.
So I have decided I am going to set myself weekly targets to complete with my sewing business and at home. My first weekly target is to create five different cushion covers a week with recycled fabrics. This week I have done three so far, so two more to go. I need to have a think about other targets for decluttering the house that are achievable. I also want to make a stock of children’s clothes so I need to set myself a target for that as well. I can’t do too much though as I will burn out too quickly. Baby steps is the name of the game.
So weekly targets for this week until Sunday:
- make cushion covers from recycled fabrics 3/5
- make five pairs of children’s shorts 0/5
- sort out five toy boxes 1/5
I think that should be enough to start with!5
