Miserable weather here so no chance of washing drying. You're so clever being able to make clothes, I'm utterly useless. I have to get my mother in law to see beavers badges onto my son's jumper haha. Sounds like a productive cleaning day as well .

Oh its lovely out here, almost too hot in the conservatory though! My nan taught me to cook, sew and knit when I was a child and I still enjoy doing it now. The jumpsuit was really easy to make but I did go wrong a few times and have to unpick and sew again! I am going to take a look at the Savvy shoppers cookbook and see what I can find!

Yes definitely take a look, I love the recipes they are so easy. All I did for the tagliatelle was mix butter, sardines and salt & pepper then stick it into the tagliatelle. It's raining here which is a shame for the race for life at my son's school later. It's just turned miserable weather all of a sudden since yesterday afternoon. That's lovely that your nan taught you how to do those things, we are going to have a whole generation of people soon who can't do them (me included) . Hope you have a lovely weekend.

So today has been mainly spent doing a little tidying, having another mooch around the charity shops and making a jumpsuit for DD2 out of a fitted sheet bought from the charity shop. I am very impressed with how it has turned out and so is she.

Tomorrow will be more tidying and then making a top and shorts for DD4.

I now need to reconcile my spreadsheet as I spent a bit at the charity shops today.

So today I have been sewing again. Today I made a top and trousers for DD4 which actually don't look too bad. The trousers were really easy but they are slightly big for her and will probably fit her next summer as well!

The only problem with sewing is that I tend to not do as much around the house. I need to find a balance between housework and sewing I think.

The sewing is good though as it relaxes me and I can make the kids clothes for a fraction of the price of buying them. For example the jumpsuit and top and trousers were made out of an old sheet and I still have some fabric left but not sure what to make next out of it. The sheet only cost me £2 as well!!

So the house has suffered today so tomorrow I will have to concentrate on doing some housework and tidying up.

The balance between sewing and housework is.......
clean one day and as a reward you get to sew one day, then clean the next day.

I mean you deserve a reward for cleaning!!

As long as every room upstairs gets hoovered and tidied once a week I am ok with that. Obv bathrooms are a quick wipe down every other day (sometimes while wrapped in a towel after a bath), and the living rooms hoovered a couple of times a week. The kitchen is my problem. Nothing worse than being left while you know everyone else is off doing their thing, while you are left with a bomb site to tidy up.

But that is my fault for having lazy kids who don't help out.

So what you are saying Foxholes is that I shouldn't do any sewing today because I was sewing yesterday!

So today is cleaning and tidying day of which I have done nothing so far apart from put some washing out on the line!

I have however updated my spreadsheet as my tax credits have changed due to the renewal. They are giving me an extra payment this Wednesday but then reducing my weekly payments. So I have updated my spreadsheet showing this new amounts. It also means that I should have £850 to pay off the debt extra this month! Next month I won't be able to pay any extra off the debt as I have a full month of nursery fees to pay for August with no funding deductions.

Right I am off to do some tidying and cleaning starting with putting some washing on and doing the washing up!
