Single, six kids and going to be debt free!

Thank you Mumof3. I only work three days a week which helps. I couldn't work full time at the moment, my house would be a disaster zone!
My kids are 15, 12, 9, 7, 3 and 18 months. They are all pretty good most of the time and generally know the routine we have. I have also got the older four to do a chore everyday which helps to keep on top of the house. I made a list of what needs to be done every satin order to not let the house descend into chaos and let them pick which one they wanted to do. They have been doing it for over a month now and it seems to work.
I love lists too and love ticking them off. I have already thought of a couple more things that I want to do today! :rotfl:0 -
3 days is still good going though!
Thats good that the older ones help out and not too chaotic. i actually find it easier to get things done when iv all 3 at home rather than just my youngest as she will just follow me around evety second whereas when there all there they entertain each other a bit. Cant imagine it with 6 though.
That was one thing i had to stop buying - notepads!!!0 -
So how am I doing on the list for today?
- Sort out the bags of toys in the main loft Done
- List OU books on ebay
- Package ebay sale and take to the post office Not done, I went to package them up and realised that the address was incomplete so I have messaged to get the correct address.
- Photograph letters for car insurance and email them over
- Phone car insurance after done this
- Washing up mountain again Done nearly all
- Dry all clothes
- Sort out clean clothes and put away
- Ikea trip if roads are ok
- Take eldest to work Done and brought her home again
- Pay vodafone bill
- Sort out downstairs toy boxes
- Tip run if tip is open
- Check banks and update spreadsheet if necessary Done
Not much done off the list. I will have to pull my finger out a bit for the rest of the day. Although the tip run and Ikea trip are going to be done tomorrow morning!0 -

Thats Mumof3. Yes the older ones do help out. I did sit the older ones down and told them that they had to help or I would have to give up work and then we would have a lot less money! I prefer getting stuff done when none of them are home but that doesn't happen very often. From June I will get Fridays to myself as the youngest two will start going to nursery on Fridays as well just term time only. I should find that I will get loads done then or I might even find some work to do from home.
I know what you mean though with just having the little ones at home. I barely get anything done on Mondays and Fridays as the youngest two either follow me everywhere or they get up to mischief when I'm not looking. There's only 18 months between them so they are inseparable most of the time!
I tend to borrow a notepad from work every six months or so! But I know what you mean about buying them. That's another reason why I put a list on here, no using up notepads and I am sort of accountable to the people on here if I don't get anything done!0 -

Ok Joey so that rarely happens :rotfl:. But I always think oh I'm not at work, the little ones will amuse themselves, I can get loads done. Then they start fighting over a toy, or the littlest gets clingy and wants to be cuddled. So I have a manic hour or two whilst she naps but then I have my son following me everywhere because he misses me when I'm not in the same room as him. I think I sometimes have too high an expectation of what I can get done and need to be a bit more realistic.0

Oooh thanks Foxholes, I will look into that. I would have to hide the chocoloate though!!
So tip run done and ikea run done this morning. Spent more in Ikea than I wanted to but only an extra £20 and got an ex display chest of drawers for the youngest clothes. Hers are currently spilling out of one drawer!! So this afternoon will be spent putting together Ikea furniture, putting stuff in the new furniture, washing, drying washing, ironing washing and putting washing away!
Its raining here now so snow has almost all gone, so kids will be back to school tomorrow!! Cupboards and fridge are a bit bare though so will be baking snacks for lunchboxes tomorrow.0 -
Ok so kids back to school and I have some tidying to do. So will write a list on here as I seem to get more done that way.
- Get middle two kids to school for 8.30
- Weigh in day
- Get some ink for printer
- Photograph insurance letters
- Email insurance letters
- Phone insurance company
- Stock up on mail bags from B & M
- Package up and post two ebay sales
- List old Ou books on ebay
- Clean bathrooms
- Go through stuff that was sorted out and list for sale
- Iron school clothes
- Washing mountain
- Amend Asda order
- Check bank and update spreadsheet
- Put together Ikea unit
So that's probably enough for today, although I do need to do some work as well at some point. I might also have a look for some extra work online.0 -
