Hi thanks for your recent post in which you said there's a new challenge for the coming year, 2019. I haven't done it before but I'm really excited about it and so hope it can help change my bad habits! Thanks again. X

    WELCOME TO FRUGALDOM! :T

2019 is only a week away, so here's to everyone following the frugal footpath to debt freedom and beyond! It's an exciting journey, a fabulous destination and the frugal lifestyle is one I wouldn't give up for anything. It;s like I have always said in my taglines - the less I spend, the more I can afford and I will forever reserve my right not to spend on 'rubbish' <--insert your own choice of word here. :o I've kept mine as polite as possible seeing as it's Christmas. :o

This is 'Myrical', our ecoarts unicorn that was built from willow branches, wildwood gathered from around the project, a broken walking stick salbaged during a beach clean and an old cable drum we rescued from nearby windfarm construction workes. The unicorn is the national animal of Scotland and this one represents everything we stand for, in our pursuit of Frugaldom. It's named 'Myrical' for two reasons:

    1. Miracles can happen and
    2. The field in which this now stands is filled with the shrub known as 'Myrica Gale', otherwise known as Bog Myrtle.

If broken sticks, scattered branches, beach trash and building site waste represents your finances... just rearrange them into something much, much better.

From Frugaldom to everyone taking part in our frugal living challenges - 'Myricals' happen!' :j

  • Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I also hope you all have a lovely frugal 2019.

Today we have played games and had a nice chilled day.

Currently watching a film on BBC.

Going to go through the freezer and fridge tomorrow . Yesterday was a NSD. Today will be too.

Tomorrow we are going to a Christmas tree festival at the local cathedral. Which is free.

We are ready for our no spend / low spend year. Budget will be finalised tonight.

Going to get some of my diploma done tonight. Hoping to finish that as soon as possible so I can have more me time in the evenings I think this is vital to be able to function well. We must look after ourselves to be able to look after others.

Neighbors have brought round cakes for the kids. They really loved the salt dough decs the kids make them for their trees . I have another salt dough project for the kids in the new year. Going to make an art plaque with them with their hand prints with family wrote on it. Will take about a week including drying time

    Happy Boxing Day Night:)

Time to plan all the Christmas leftovers meals - get as much as you can from your festive food.

We had a turkey and I bought beef for New Year so my grocxery spending is complete for 2018 and as usual, I seem to have fridge, freezer and cupboards all full with enough meals remaining from leftovers to see us through to the new year.

Next year is going to be a tough one for us as I have so many plants that I want to impliment that will eat into savings once again while awaiting repayment of funds loaned to family members from the 'Bank of Mum'.

I have now set up the 2019 CHALLENGE THREAD but we will be using this one until the end of December.

Hi all, I'd like to join up again this year please. Our very low income (around £10,000 to keep three of us and all the livestock) is set to fall again in summer, yet to know how much by. So this year needs to be extra frugal. Happy new year to you all, M2m.

  • An easy NSD in Xmas day and another boxing day too. Today spent £6.10 at Tesc0, I was there filling a prescription (prepaid). Was gutted to look at my reciept to see my reduced mint was £1.11, not the 11p I thought!
On a positive, I cancelled an Amaz0n order that has been lost in the ether, was given a £5 credit on top of a refund as an apology. I reordered along with a few other bits... but no spend. Used a code from a credit card to get £10 Off, paid the rest with points from the same card.
That means today, over all I am about £15 better off.
To top it all, I accidently signed up for Amaz0n Pr1me recently, I have it in my diary to cancel. Today they offered me another £5 credit if I watch an Pr1me video. So it's not been a bad day.. other than being poorly.

I have added all my totals for the different categories in my budget, as I do not plan to spend any more money this year. I know where I now have to cut back on spending. Was a learning curve for me this year and still on my new journey in life.
