I just had to look at your posts to check you're not my vendor:eek:
I'm a FTB, had my offer accepted in Sept and the sale is delayed as their forward purchase is in probate and the sol doesn't have the forms needed yet. We really wanted to be in by Christmas too - currently I'm not sure it will even happen.
And yes I am gutted about that as I really wanted to be in for Christmas instead of my tiny flat.0 -
If the owner has died that makes it a probate property, which frequently causes delays. The inheritance has to be decided first, and if it is being split between multiple people then they've all got a right to an opinion.Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0

yep - can take ages, I only found out today that their forward purchase is in probate, otherwise I would never have thought I'd be in by Christmas. I was told they wanted a fast sale.0 -
no, it's not a probate property. Our vendor is ready to complete as are we. It is our buyer that has the delay. The delay is no fault of their own (I won't go into why but it's basically a delay in funds being released on time). Our buyer is gutted too as they wanted to be in for Christmas too. We now have a date for early January, counting the days!0

We’re moving next Tuesday and we’re only doing it because our buyer wants in (doesn’t want to pay more rent) and our seller is moving out anyway.
But if I had a choice I would have preferred to wait until early January now.
Removals have been difficult to book, I’m transferring my son to a different school and have no idea if it will get sorted in time for him starting in January term.
House is full of boxes and hardly any Xmas decorations are up.
Really with kids and Xmas it’s a bit of a nightmare moving now and I’d never want to move at this time of year again. I’d say now it’s better to wait it out until after Christmas and enjoy the festive season0 -
