Peter Kay tickets - cancelled but no refund of fees from Ticketmaster?

  • yup I actually agree - I paid the fee, I also expected the event to happen :)

    Although if the above posts are right we have nothing to worry about...

  • My partner is disabled so I cant book online, I have to book by phone. It cost me £12 (plus VAT) to ring 0844. Will I get that refunded?

    Solicitors do the same, why? because they can.

    Its a case of people needing their hands held. If you dont wnat to pay it and deem it unfair, its really simple, dont pay it. You wont get the tickets but your point will be made, if everyone agrees they wont sell tickets and might think about dropping the fees. People are wanting the laws/government to do something because they dont want to miss out but carrying on paying the fees.


    Theres normally always choices, the problem is its up to you which ones you take.



    I think what people were deeming unfair was the non refund of fees (which isn't actually true), I don't understand though why these fees just cant be included in the ticket price and not added on as an extra

    Thanks for all of the replies, although the Ticketmaster site this morning said it would refund the face value (not including fees), the email I have just received says refund including fees. So no need to complain, hooray!

    By the way, I have no issue paying the fees in the first place as I see them as just another part of the overall ticket price. However, I would have had a huge problem with paying the fees for a cancelled show. Anyway - no issue now!!

    isn't it interesting though that if I brought a purchase back to Debenhams because it was unsuitable they don't start to argue about refunding me minus a processing fee because they use a payment processing system - as a retail business they take it on the chin because they want your future custom.

    This is not a legal right though, it's voluntary on the part of companies with good customer service.

    Ah, completely different set of rights there comapred to "disinclination" (not faulty but have decided you don't want it).
    If something is faulty generally you are entitled to a refund/repair (clearly if it's a large item like a house/plane/car you can't just just exchange it).

    You almost certainly won't get your bus fare/travel costs covered if travelling to a store and you might incurr some postage costs for returning the item depending on the terms and conditions.
    You may well also be expected to get a refund on the card you paid with so the retailer doesn't get charged mastercard/visa fees.

    So you could still potentially be out of pocket.
    I've certainly won claims in paypal/ebay only to find out I need to send the item back at my own cost.

    Some firms with good customer service have free returns, which of course cost them money. They might be just nice people but it also might be an essential part of their business model e.g. people wouldn't buy clothes by post if they had no option of returning them for free.
    There is a certain commercial element here as well as how altruistic the retailer here.
    A cycnic would say that no retailer is altruistic and reputaitons such as "never knowingly undersold" are a marketing ploy.

    I have a very strong sense of fair play but as I'm in the second half of my life I no longer tend to get involved in arguments over a few quid, especially as I have benefitted thousands in the past (overbooked cruise) or at least where I do I practice non-attachment to the outcome so I don't get an ulcer.
