You're wasting your time, they won't listen.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
The "ever closer union among the peoples of Europe" is, in actual fact, embedded in the Treaty of the European Union (the defacto European constitution). This has already happened.
"Project Fear" stated that if the UK voted Leave, there would be an immediate Emergency Budget in which 4% would be added to income tax along with sweeping cuts to public services. That hasn't happened.
See the difference?0 -
I'd love it if there was a US of E and we should be in it of course....but we won't be. We'll be a sad little backwater with weird customs harking back continuously to a mythical past, with rubbish food and warm beer, paying our taxes to fund a royalty who have no idea how some of us have to live.....but hey ho we'll be great as long as we keep jolly foreigner at bay.0

There will be a European army and it will also dawn on the Daily Mail that Europe can build aircraft carriers too, an actually afford to put planes on them.
Finally a remoaner who admits there will be an EU army so why the change of heart?. After the last few years of you lot denying their would be an EU army it does kinda blow out of the water any grains of integrity you had left .
When the EU builds its aircraft Carrrier (trying desperately not to laugh whilst typing) who's planes will be on it?. The reason I ask is France will insist its the Rafale,Germany the Eurofighter,Spain Eurofighter,Poland Mig-29's,Sukhoi SU22's,F16's etc etc etc so best of luck agreeing on that one. Then do they have cats and traps or ski ramp , Nuclear powered of turbines?.?.........The EU doesn't have a great record with making decisions does it....Speeding up the move to a federal superstate is now a given to react to the Brexit crisis. The EU could otherwise have stayed as a loosish collaboration of nations with the UK having a veto over real cesession of authority.
You really don't understand how the EU works do you.Good luck to the EU with their plan and even better luck with getting everyone on board especially the Visegrad countries. Maybe they should have thought about that before they invited them in.. :rotfl:Now we are on the outside and we have no say, no influence, no veto and no clue what we are going to do after 2019 when we are on the periphery of what will to all intents and purposes be the next superpower.
Superpower?.............. They can't even get their fisheries policy right in 30+yrs of trying so no ,sorry to burst your bubble there won't be an EU Super Power.Great work Brexiteers. You really outdid yourself this time.
Oh bless are you still bitter?. Reminds me of my little 6yr old niece who has tantrums but she is only 6 afterall..0 -
Notice how the ratchet works though. Even within this thread we've gone from "a USE will never happen" to "a USE is a done deal".0

Germany benefited hugely from a competitive price angle when they gave up the DM for the Euro. German exporters (as the UK's does now) provided the engine for growth in the economy. This advantage will never be lost. While not a net beneficiary in terms of funding. More than enough made up by "trading" income. Also the fact that German companies remain in German hands. Take virtually any major German industrial company and it'll have a link back to the war effort.0 -

If certain nations within the EU want to proceed along those lines that is their sovereign decision to make.
If it happens it certainly won't be including every nation of Europe for the forseeable future, the UK was far from the only EU country that was more protective of national sovereignty, and contrary to some of the beliefs on here I don't see any countries being forced into a USE against their will. Last time I checked Martin Schulz had not secretly been put in charge of the EU with authority to force it to do whatever he wants.
I'm not sure even a 2-speed Europe is likely to be the plan as that implies everyone gets to the same destination in the end, maybe a core/periphery model would make more sense.
Not really any concern of ours now anyway, as they aren't discussions we will be having any influence over.0
