What right has she got to dictate anything about you based on a statement from a debt collection agency? What difference does it make to her or the letting? I'd be very interested to see what she has written on her reference as none of it is of anybody elses business except yours.

I've asked to see a copy of the reference and they refused saying this is personal information. They disclosed this info to the new potential landlord and he said he didn't want me as a tenant. Makes me seem really bad. I have 2 defaults. I pay my credit cards, loans and rent on time. I work full time. My boss let me see the one he wrote and it couldn't have been any better!
Yes it is personal information; relating to you.

Under the data protection act, you can make a subject access request, pay the maximum £10 fee and they must by law provide you with it.

Don't expect the LA to know the law exists so you may have to quote the act and section in your written letter requesting it.

a few months ago put one of my letters through my landlords door and it was the debt collection company I have been paying with a statement and she went crazy as she opened the letter.
What did the agent actually told you was written? If they told you, can't see why it would be an issue for them to share the letter.
