Hi everyone and thanks for the good wishes.

I sneezed a lot less last night and got some sleep :j I spent most of the morning wrapped up in a big fluffy dressing gown after having a lie in and then braved getting dressed and out to the nearby shop.

I got tissues, cold cures. eggs, milk, potatoes, bread and rolls as the weather forecast here was snow. Just after I got home it started to snow so the timing was good. I even managed to stop sneezing long enough to cook dinner party chicken in the oven and also cooked a chicken and veg pasta with a green medley, onions, garlic and mushrooms. I found pasta shells in the cupboard and used up some chicken stock, double cream and a bit of cheese so feel very pleased with myself.

The pasta dish turned out really tasty and I have an extra portion for tomorrow. The chicken breasts will make a couple of meals with actifry chips or baked potato and when cold and thinly sliced are good in sandwiches.

I feel much better having home made food and knowing I have enough supplies that I don't have to go out for the next few days unless I choose.

I like your idea of a blessings list and non materialistic wishes.

    tru

    Thanks for the carol.

DDs inform me I have "mellowed" which is just as well as otherwise I would have combusted. :o Partly it is the fact that dds are all grown up now and partly that I haven't got the energy to shout.

    dumpling

If dd is up to going shopping then that sounds like a really good sign.

    Hugs to all

    Afternoon all

Can I join the ranks of the walking wounded please.

I woke in the early hours and needed the loo, so to try and avoid waking up fully, I didn't put the light on even though my bedroom is pitch black!

Big mistake!! I managed to catch my leg on the solid bed frame, then stub my toe and as I fell forward I twisted and banged my upper thigh of the bed frame too (no idea how)..Then to add insult to injury I banged my head on the chest of drawers before landing in a crumpled heap on the floor....where I sat and contemplated which bit hurt the most and whether I was allowed to cry :rotfl:

I tell you, I bet it was a spectacular slow motion fall and if caught on camera would have been on one of those you've been framed type shows!!

Anyway, I hobbled to the bathroom then went back to bed, obviously wide awake by this point so I fired up my laptop as I knew I wouldn't get back to sleep.

I have a few bruises but I'm ok..I just feel a bit of a fool :rotfl:

That's as exciting as this weekend has got. I have done and achieved nothing bar accumulating a couple of bruises and a bump on the head

Hope you are all having a good day :) x

I don't think they do them; in any case, it wouldn't be any use for me, as I am telephone-phobic as well as hard-of-hearing; Mr LW has to deal with phone calls for me, and I leave the room while he's on the phone otherwise I feel sick.

Yes you are most definitely allowed to cry; that sounds extremely unpleasant and painful. Have a gentle (((HUG))).

When we have doggies staying who like to sleep in the bedroom, Mr LW keeps a little torch by the bed to find his way to the loo without disturbing the doggies - would that be a plan? Smaller light source, so you wouldn't have umpteen lumens or whatever they measure it in now assaulting your eyes, but you'd still be able to see the obstacles in your path.

LW I'm sorry to hear about your mishap too.

I do have a torch in my bedside drawer but I was half asleep so I didn't think of putting it on, I just knew I didn't want to put the lamp on...one minute later I was more than wide awake but felt in a kind of daze because it took me an age to get up off the floor and put the main light on :o

((hugs)) to all the poorlies and sad or in need.

Silver-oldie your post about your happy moment made me smile :)

Karcher OUCH ! Still you did it with style, I don't know of anyone who could bounce around like that ! Joking aside I hope you are ok though.
Well it's still snowing here and it's about 9 inches deep now. Having said that, the snow plough followed by the gritter have just gone up and back down the road. I expect they are trying to clear the road ready for the hourly bus service tomorrow.
Got some lovely snowy photos of a Robin on the bird feeder but the Chaffinch was too darn quick !
Phoned Dad and he was ok, except that he was missing his Sunday roast :(. I suggested having it later in the week but he has two club Xmas lunches booked if the weather clears.
Elona I hope you get rid of that cold soon.
Tru tried my best to sing along . Sorry I'm the one who's tone deaf :rotfl:. Hope I didn't put the rest of you off :D. Don't hear that one very often now, my DGD sang about a tipsy angel last year and ended with "Strike a pose". She looked like she was doing an angelic Elvis impersonation :rotfl:
    Have a good evening everyone.

Tru thank you - when I was about 5 or 6 I used to sing that to go to sleep as I knew all the words...all year round! It is now my older brothers' most hated carol :D

karcher definitely have a little sob. When I threw myself down the last 3 attic stairs, slid on the wooden stair edges and wrenched my back i cried for about 5 minutes, probably because of the shock. Hope you feel better soon and get some arnica on the bruising.

  • 'Quote' I'll do my best; I used to be a Soprano, able to reach top E, but these days I'm a Contralto sounding like a rusty hinge. Btw, this is one of the few carols I don't know an "alternative" version of. 'Quote'

I too was a Soprano, being nurtured along by our choir master as a soloist.....then I went to a women's hockey match at Wembley, England v Holland. Lost my voice, when it came back it was two tones lower........he was not pleased!! although I still stayed in the sopranos section of the choir I sang only things in a minor key, I could still get the high notes, but he did not want me to strain my voice any further.:D

These days I sound like a car engine turning over .............
