    Morning everyone.

It's a real winter wonderland here, the snow started just after 5am and has been falling steadily since then, made driving to and from the yard fun anyway!
Made the decision to put Lulu out in her field for a few hours, she is well rugged up and cosy so will be ok, she spends long hours in her stable so will do her good to be outside for a while.
Not many plans for today, my beloved is picking his eldest up from the train station this afternoon and then they want to watch the footie, we may well pick up a cheeky takeaway later or if we don't want to go out there is a chicken pie in the freezer.
Nmlc I really like that quote, my ex was quite aggressive when we argued which was horrible, my DOH is the complete opposite and our home is a very calm, gentle place to be :)
Like the idea of that list SilverOldie and may well pinch it :D

Hugs to all poorlies or those with worries, take care folks x

No snow here :( just lashing with rain which is set in for the day I think, we need to pop out and buy the tiles today for the kitchen and I need some new white wine glasses.

OH cleared the garden yesterday it took two truck loads  but its cleared now and looks much better, I have started to get all the stuff back in the kitchen but still have about four boxes to do today, I have got rid of a load of stuff too so had a good clear out.

We were going to my sisters for Xmas day but she has had a disaster with her new kitchen, they have had a big extension put on the house and have been waiting weeks and weeks for the flooring to be delivered from abroad, it arrived Friday and it was the wrong one  so they have had to re order and it wont arrive till after xmas now, so I have asked everyone if they want to come here instead so im just waiting to hear.

Have stripped the beds this morning and got them in the wash they will have to go in the TD today though.

LW take care and go and see a DR if you can xx

    Have good days all xx

Thanks for the thread Holly, I'm glad you are n the mend, hugs to TA, Elona, Csarina, Karcher, LW and anyone else in need.

Nmlc I tend to ignore most of my beloved moaning but every so often I snap and tell him to give it a rest as he's making my ears bleed. He usually, stops for a while then.

Tru, thank you, I was given a soft toy for singing that solo when I was about 4 or 5 at a Christmas concert.

We have pot roast for dinner this afternoon, we usually have a cooked breakfast on Sunday about 10ish and a roast about 5 o'clock. The beef has been on the multi fuel stove all night, it saves on using the gas.

It's time I ran the vacuum over the floors.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

White all over here. Its not been this bad for a long time, this is the snow i remember as a child.... not the piddly few flakes we are now used to and the country grinds to a halt.

Grump has been out to fuel his motor for the 4 hour drive to work tomorrow. His mate is snowed in so Grump will have to take a detour and pick him up. Cars are stranded all over the place so Grump tells me, all bus services are cancelled. Youngest doesnt stand a chance of getting to work tomorrow. Still, he was warned about his tyres and he could have gone out yesterday to buy some winter tyres but instead he chose to spend his day in front of the computer. I could shake that child (except he's not a child) at times i could.

Today i will be feasting on programmes i didnt watch in the week.
    Morning cherubs

Nelski you obviously dont know me.:D

Bit like me then Hester, i take so much then i usually shout "oh for Gods sake, give it a rest". In all honesty, i save my moans for you lot. Grumps chosen rant of today is people who drive in this snow with summer tyres.... I can tolerate it at the moment. Apparently if you havent got a 4x4 or winter tyres you should walk everwhere.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Looked out of the window just before 8am, just a sprinkling of snow. Went into the kitchen to sort our breakfast in bed, opening the kitchen curtains.......it was snowing and it has settled, we decided to stay in bed a bit longer. I left the heat on last night just on low so the chill was off, turned it up and by the time we got out of bed it was nice and warm.

Yesterday afternoon I lit the sitting room fire, turned the rad off and turned it back on when we went to bed.

OH will not be putting anything else in the shed whilst we have snow on the ground. The path up to the shed gets slippy, I have no desire to nurse him with a broken anything!!

Chicken for supper tonight with all the trimmings. Might make a strawberry jelly and put some of the strawberries in from the freezer.

Just popping in to say ‘thanks’ for the Christmas ditty tru.

And...the sky outside is a brilliant cloudless bright blue. Still freezing cold but it’s so lovely to see the weak sun.

    Afternoon all

Thanks for the carol Tru, Always makes my day.

We woke up today to high winds and heavy rain. Now we have snow but it's not settling as it is wet underfoot. Don't know what tomorrow will bring though.

We put up the tree yesterday and the candle bridge in the window. Not doing a lot today, I did scrambles eggs and bacon for breakfast with orange juice and toast. DH has vacuumed the house and up in the loft. I have a small wash in the wm. After the cuppa DH has just brought me I am going to make pastry and cook the chicken for the chicken and leek pie I promised DH for dinner tonight.

Well hugs and spoons all round. sending the poorlies healing vibes. Keep warm all.

  • Good afternoon chums well I have been very proactive with the present wrapping and managed to get everything wrapped and sorted (feeling chuffed :):):)).Best of all I wasn't sure if I had enough paper but found a bag full of folded up left over bags from last year so they have all been recycled and used so no need to buy more wrapping stuff:) very OS today me :).
I woke at 4.00 am and it was pouring with rain ,then when I looked out of the window on waking up around 07.30. it was white everywhere, but now its back to the rain and its chucking it down and the snow is vanishing thank goodness. I know it looks pretty but I hate the stuff.

Really must get a wriggle on as half the day has gone ,but at least everything is done and dusted now I was going to nip across to the shops for a few bits but I deceided its just not worth getting wet for I will be off to DDs later for dinner so no cooking for me today. Really getting some space in the freezer now thank goodness and its slowly going down I am hoping I can defrost it before Christmas .

Hope everyone is warm and dry

    Cheers chums

    Tru, thanks for the carol.

We have a lot of snow which is unusual for us. We went over to DS' out in the Cambridgeshire fens last night as I wanted a test run on their aga for the roast potatoes for Christmas dinner. They came out very well, as did the roast pork loin and after a bot of worry about the crackling that was also very good. We were supposed to stay the night but I chanced to look at the met office forecast at midnight and saw it had changed to snow for the area so we decided to leave. I'm glad we did because it would have meant a very hairy drive home or being stuck in Chatteris for the day.

The decorations are almost up and the tree is looking very good, we got it for a money saving £20 and it's beautifully bushy.

Sorry to hear that LW can you get checked out by the doc?
Thank you Nels and everyone else who has expressed concern. Unfortunately, if I try for a GP appt tomorrow, it'll be at least mid-January before I can see anyone; probably longer, with the Xmas break intervening. I have to go for a meds review in a couple of months anyway (so will be making the appt in a months' time) so if I remember, I'll mention it to her. It's not unprecedented; I have a history of low BP, so I'm not desperately worried. It was the scare and the flashback to when the Ex tried to suffocate me that really upset me.

I'll do my best; I used to be a Soprano, able to reach top E, but these days I'm a Contralto sounding like a rusty hinge. Btw, this is one of the few carols I don't know an "alternative" version of. :D

Yes, we have nasty white stuff here, too. Luckily I was able to get to the shed to put the recycling out of the way; and I've filled up the bird-feeders and put them some fresh water (having removed the lollipop from their bowl first).
What does Scampi think of the snow? :D

There's a quote that I found that I use every now and then, it goes like this, "it's not when my voice is raised that you should worry it's when i having nothing to say" . I think that's very true and very powerful.
I'm like that too; I tend to bluster a bit - "Oh for the love of Bastet's Tortoiseshell Kittens!!" etc; and if I drop something I'm likely to growl "a**holes!" or similar - the time to worry is if I either say nothing at all, or simply burst into tears.
Apparently Mr LW's Grandad was the same - he'd swear like a trooper, and all was fine and dandy - the time to worry was when instead of swearing, he said "Oh deary, deary me!".
