Have i still got my 0% intrest rate?

Also once of my credit cards payments was late by 2 days in in November (Halifax 0% card).

Payment due date was 6th November
I paid on the 8th of November
Late payment added to account on the 8th November (fine I was late as the payment didn't go through)

Next Statement date was 12th November.
The Statement Min payment included the late payment fee which I have paid but there was no interest listed, I'm hoping this is correct and I haven't lost the 0% interest rate.

If I had shouldn't there have been interest on the bill as well?

  • Just pick up the phone and ask Halifax?

What is the "estimated interest" on your previous statement?

Payment due date was 6th November
I paid on the 8th of November

On the Statement that came on the 12th November (This included the charge for late payment) there is noting like "estimated interest on there"

At the bottom of the statement there was this

Outstanding balance - interest charged - Expiry date
    £5328.86 - £0.00 - 15/10/20
    £12 - N/A - N/A

Min payment due - £65.41 (by 7th December) and I have paid it.

It sounds like you've been lucky and haven't had your promo rate removed.

Consider setting up a DD for at least the minimum payment so it doesn't happen again.

As above setup a DD for the minimum amount, nothing stopping you paying early which is what i do.

But if nothing goes out of the DD for 12 months they cancel the DD. Silly people.

Now i cancel the DD once a year and then set it up again straight away.
    Resets the clock.

I hope so I cant afford to start paying interest on that as well. I think if it had gone I would have seen interest on the November statement wouldn't I?

The statement came on the 12th (After the late payment)

I have / had a DD set up it returned Unpaid direct debit on my statement and I paid over the min on the 8th I think the daily charge Halifax have put me under what I needed.

Yes, it would have been on your statement.

Has it happened before? If not, I would ring and ask them nicely if they could refund the £12 on this occasion - hold your hands up and admit it was your error but ask nicely.

I've seen some of your other posts so doing the above certainly won't do any harm.....the worst they can say is no which just puts you back to where you are now paying the £12.

Have you completed a SOA to help you with your plan to clear your cards & debts?

No that was the first time it happend the direct debit was refused when i noticed two days later i paid it, so it would have been specified on the new statement as the statement date was several days after the payment date ?

I went to halifax today and the lady i spoke to took a look at my credit card and said as far as she can tell my promotional rate of 0% is still in place, she suggested that i keep an eye on my statements and feel free to visit / call if there are any changes.

I would have thought it would have been flagged on there system by now if my rate was over.

I also have included a SOA i used the values when working out how much i can afford to pay off of my debts i have a post in the debt free wannabe section detailing everything.

Did you ask them about refunding the late payment fee while you were at the branch?

Well done on getting some advice on the DFW board.

I wish you all the best with your journey - it will be hard and challenging at times but with the right support and motivation you are going to get to the other side. ;)

  • I didn't want to rock the boat too much so didn't bring up the 12 fee, ill wait until the next statement which comes on the 12th and hopefuly there are my rate is still 0%
  • I know with Tesco credit card they give you 2 "graces" in 12 months.

This month due to changing banks i reset up the DD and it didn't go through for this month, paid but was marked as late.

Phoned Tesco and was told about 2 strikes policy...0% not effected and no CRA reports about being late.
