It's just gone from bad to worse with them .....now nearly a 30% price increase....I hope they fold !!!

    Dear Customer,

Important changes to your energy prices

The last two weeks have been difficult for both Outfox the Market and our valued customers. It is evident that we have made some decisions that have proved unpopular and we are sorry for any undue worry we may have caused. Whilst we can appreciate your frustrations, these changes have been unavoidable and introduced in a bid to keep your prices as low as possible.

The energy market continues to face challenges, this week two independent suppliers have been forced to cease trading, joining five other companies who have folded since the start of the year.

Wholesale energy prices have risen exponentially throughout 2018 and for this reason we are unable to sustain our current pricing model. Therefore, we will be implementing further changes to react to the energy market environment. These changes are detailed below.

From 1st January 2019 your electricity unit rate will change from £0.1146/kWh to £0.1329/kWh.

Your gas unit rate will change from £0.0373/kWh to £0.0429/kWh

Your monthly membership fee will be replaced by a daily standing charge of 28p per fuel.

    Good News!

From January 1st, the energy regulator Ofgem is introducing a price cap to ensure no-one pays more than a fair price for their energy. Our commitment to you, is that our prices will always be below this cap - and we promise to keep it that way.

The table below provides detail of your current prices and the new prices.
    Payable from 1st January 2019.

    Your prices until
    31st December 2018

    Your prices from
    1st January 2019

    Electricity Unit Rate

    £0.1146/kWh

    £0.1329/kWh

    Gas Unit Rate

    £0.0373/kWh

    £0.0429/kWh

Your unit rates are inclusive of 5% VAT

Your projected costs for the next 12 months

    Until
    31st December

    After
    1st January

    Price
    Increase

    Projected Annual cost

    £807.27

    £1032.93

    £225.66

Right, that's done it for me. I'm off to join a fixed rate.
  • They're also introducing a daily standing charge of 28p for gas :rotfl:

Luckily I'm leaving these cowboys in a week or so, so won't be affected.

I have just got an increased charges email. Notice that they have upped my yearly gas and electricity useage.

I think tomorrow I will bail out of these people.

    Edit:

What's the general view folks - go back to one of these comparision sides and find another deal - it was using 2 of those that got me to OFTM in the first place.

Or just opt for one of the more expensive but bigger players?

Good job I already instigated a switch away two weeks ago, I saw this coming. An increase of £220 from next January I've been quoted now and my cooling off period ends tomorrow. I'm off to Zog again who are now both lower unit wise and (new) standing charge wise, and Scottish Power who are unit wise more expensive but now has a lower standing charge. Both fixed, Zog for 24 months and SP for 12.

Its not the comparison sites that are the problem, OFTM was latterly variable so this will happen. You may want to consider a fix.

I am surprised that Scottish Power is cheaper re standing charge - I left them to move to OFTM.

Admittedly, I was on a pay quarterly bill with them. Did you use a comparission site or go directly to SP's site?

Good article here in the Express by Martin saying how people's credit is protected when an energy company goes bust.

<<<<<Discussing the OfGem safety net, Martin said: “What that means is first of all if your energy company goes bust you get continuity of supply, so they won’t turn the gas and electricity off, and you will be automatically ported to a new company that OfGem arranges.

“Your credit will be protected, and if you’ve left the company and they have your credit, your credit will be protected too.”>>>>

  • Oh dear, new day, new joke from team OFTM.

Membership fee to be replaced by standing charge per energy and rate increases.

Got my current EAC wrong again, I switch tomorrow they will no longer be the cheapest and I've had enough of them.

It's been quite amusing to be honest, except for the people they've upset of course.

Surely they can't survive this one.

from £569 to £712 increase for me, just after they changed my EAC to be much lower for the change in direct debit amounts which reduced them quite a bit. Now my EAC has gone back to the amount it was previously despite not submitting any more readings.
Although it looks like the 28p standing charge is the biggest cause of the price increase as it seems in my case at least that on that basis they're still one of the cheapest as an electricity only supplier so considering just switching gas away.
Splitting them the prices would be:
    £445 electric and £266 gas
If I got 12 months fixed with Zog it would be £173 for gas
I worked out the monthly charge as a standing charge is an increase from £9.66 a month to £17.03 a month!

    Unless I missed anything?

Just got the email to. I'm paying £6.99 a month for my "membership fee" they are now saying 28p per fuel? Surely that has to be total, not per fuel. Based on 30 days means I will then be paying £16.80 on the daily fee alone, over double.

I was already fed up of the direct debit mess up (I'm already paying too much), and the constant rises, I started a switch the the green network MSE tariff. So far the email details, website login etc looks much better/more professional than OFTM, it took me weeks with OFTM to be able to login after switching, and then had to ask them for my bill!

It sounds like it is only a matter of time before they go under, I hope I get a refund of my credit before hand.

I wouldn't worry too much. If you haven't got it back before they go bust it is protected anyway.
