  • Interestingly when I was speaking with OFTM earlier the lady put me on hold as their system was being slow, and their hold music was advertising fischerenergy.co.uk. Made me wonder if this was all a cunning ploy to make us move to them....?

Its from the same building as OFTM
Have known several insurance companies operate such tactics incidentally Leicester as well, two i am chasing down.

Just done a little digging and the directors are the same for the two Fischer companies and Outfox the market both dormant on Companies House.
Seen this before new companies created when a previous goes bust.

  • I joined Outfox the Market in July after a decade with SSE. I prefer to build up a credit in my utilities accounts over the summer months in order to offset the cost of greater usage and higher bills during the winter. I prefer to budget this way so I'm disappointed that Outfox the Market have chosen to insist on variable direct debits without the option to opt out.

Today I looked at Pure Planet, who appear to be slightly more expensive per kWh for electricity but cheaper gas. Their membership fee is higher at £8.50 v £7.51 that I'm paying OTM. Comparing estimated usage over the whole year, Pure Planet are cheaper for me so I'm inclined to jump ship only having been with OTM for less than 6 months.

I note that Pure Planet also vary their DD's through summer and winter.

    Owned by the same people...…...
  • Outfox is a real cowboy outfit. They promise you one price and then charge you another, their customer service ASSistants are just Asses, they do not possess the skills to grasp the English language, they can’t give you a straight answer and each one contradicts the last one, they are a total waste of space.
  • I switched to Outfox earlier in the year using cheap energy club - the switch went ok through to them with no hickup and they set the tariff fairly initially.
I've had reason to email them with regards to their recent debacle - putting up their energy prices and then changing the way they do the DD according to them force on them by Ofgen.
They do seem a bit disorganised, their website isn't very helpful just basic! I've mentioned it to them when I joined which they said they would look at but that was 8 months ago!
Customer services via email are generally we are doing this - like it or lump it! theres no yes we can do this just we are doing this.....
I'm moving from them if i get chance to the sooner the better.
  • Just out of curioisty, has anyone else's estimated annual usage gone up by exactly 25%, mine has. I've also just checked my parents values and theirs has also gone up by 25%

Coincidence? So it looks like they are expecting us all to be paying 25% more a year from December, I guess that formula was easy to come up with and apply to all their accounts en masse.

Trustpilot is looking intersting today for them!

I switched to outfoxthemarket (should be outfoxthecustomer) actually the switch isn’t quite done yet. Using my annual usage they quoted me £51 monthly. Today I get an email telling me they’re moving me to Winter/Summer DD which works out at £70 monthly over the 12 months. Now I have to find £89 a month from October to March I’ve never been in debt with an energy supplier and totally object to their presuming they need to protect me from debt, I’m a 60 year old adult and can handle that very nicely myself Thankyou very much!
Absolutely disgusting!! now I’ll be paying £10 a month more than my old supplier did and that’s with the price rise. I’ve been cheated and think outfoxthemarket should be removed from the MSE energy comparison page.

Yes my annual usage is up 25% too! No way will we use that much more over a year.
  • Like many others, we feel ripped off by this company. The new summer/winter payment is unnecessary and, of course, introduced in the winter so we all pay those extra payments up front. I was aware the monthly fee would probably change, but since we joined two months ago, the cost for us has nearly doubled with the hiked winter payment. Sure, we will pay less in the summer, but we will be ex-customers before this year is out,
