Oooooh Shell! You must be reading my mind with your menu... I have been dreaming about jam tarts all last week. What mix do you use for your pastry? I can't remember what my Gran used to do but she made the best lemon curd tarts ever

Still using up stuff from the freezer, but buying 2-3 meals a week so we get some variety.

Sat: bought meat pie (well, we are about to move house), veges (no pots)
Sun: hm chicken noodle soup, Nigella's peking duck (not a massive success, to tell the truth)
Mon: pork & apple sausages, celeriac and potato mash (oops, dh didn't like it), broccoli (I was the only taker)
    Tues: spag bol
Wed: fish pie using frozen salmon and frozen prawns
    Thurs: lamb & apricot pilaf
Fri: takeaway (given that we are moving house on Saturday and everything will be packed up)
    Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600
    Overpayments to date: £3000
    June grocery challenge: 400/600

    Hi newgirl

I make my own pasty, excellent recipe which I pinched of a fellow old styler.

    1lb of S R Flour
8oz butter (or marg - I use value butter)
    4oz caster sugar
    1 egg
    Water (as required)

flour and butter rubbed to breadcrumbs, stir in sugar, add egg and enough water to bind.

This makes a huge quantity of pastry which i usually split and keep in the fridge to make a batch of jam tarts etc next day. Lovely pastry for mince pies too.
