Only my second week of doing meal plans, so here goes....

Mon: Pork steaks, mash & veg
Tue: Chicken & Leek Pie (not made one before)
Wed: Goulash with crusty bread (not made goulash before either!)
Thu: Spag bol (double the quantity and freeze half)
Fri: Fish in breadcrumbs and oven chips (Friday is my can't be bothered to make an effort night!) :o
Sat: Pasta with a tomato sauce and cheese
Sun: Roast - probably chicken, but will see if there are any meat bargains to be had when I go shopping.

    Have a good week everyone.

    Night!
    CF xx

  • Cereal, Fruit or toast for Breakfast

Take a pack lunch to work, frozen soup, make it in batches, sandwiches and various other snacks

    Dinners this week:

Mon: HM Chilli, with left over potatoes - maybe roast them
    Tues - Pizza and Chips
    Wed - Pasta + Sauce
    Thurs - Pasta + Sauce
    Fri - Pizza and Chips
    Sat - Veg curry
Sun - Roast Dinner - Pastry, Vegs, Roast Potatoes

Just started working again recently and trying to get into a routine, meal planning is working ok, as long as I get to shops at weekend.

Finding freezing things in batches works wonders for me, soup for work, and I eat pasta most nights so freeze a lot of HM pasta sauce! Just made batch of chilli last night and i managed not to burn it! Pleased!

Have to say as a vegetarian its easier to cook for myself as ready meal choice is very limited and expensive! Planning to experiment with more veg sauces etc for rice and pasta so i get more variety.

  • I notice fish pie recipes on here. Do you guys find fish for fish pies expensive? Do you buy it in bulk frozen bags? I love fish pie but it practically bankrupts me everytime I make it.

I now buy frozen value cod or Lidl's frozen pollack - much cheaper. Although not as pretty and white as other options, you hardly see it covered in sauce and mash!! I have some frozen prawns left over so will add those too ;)

I was given some prawns by my Mum when I moved house but had to buy fresh fish yesterday to make it in time for yesterdays dinner - it cost me over £6 just for two bits of Salmon and two bits of cod! When we empty a drawer in the freezer of leftovers I will be buying frozen Coley!
