The price/cost of lazyness.

I was in Tesco earlier, and fancied some dates.
The difference in price, between pitted and un-pitted was shocking.
An 800 gram box of un-pitted dates cost £3-75, which is £4-69 per kilogram.
A 200 gram tray of pitted dates cost £2, which is £10 per kilogram.
More than double the price, for the convenience of not chewing round the stone?
No thanks!

If a 200 gram tray costs £20, that's actually £100 per kilogram.
If you mean it costs £2, then you're actually paying less--assuming you only need the 200 grams. Pitted is also very useful if you like luxury, are unable to chew around the stone (poor oral dexterity and/or some physical or learning difficulties and so on).
Laziness is not the only reason people choose to buy pre-prepared foods.

Beg pardon.
Edited.

Who only eats 200g of dates?

I didn't say it was, but it's definitely an expensive way for lazy people to buy dates.0 -
And how much of the 800 grams of the unpitted dates is the weight of the stones?0

So, not "more than double" the price then. You get 685g excluding the stones for £3.75 which is £5.47 per kg. Still a fair difference mind.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »One seventh.0 -

Which is why they come in so handy around Christmas - all that lush food, usually very little exercise & therefore dates with all that lovely fibre? Win-win-win!0
